Archived Target Credit Card replaced with Target Mastercard

We used to spend $1000 and get a one time 10% off coupon.
I like 5% off all the time.

Whats' the scoop? I am off for a week.

Our card is already Mastercard so what additional rewards above the 5% off are they adding?

I had the Target Visa; even after they discontinued it I was always sent a new Visa.
After the breach, I was issued a Target MC but it looks like this is for cardholders to earn rewards for using their card OUTSIDE of Target, at other merchants.

They aren't fully replacing it yet. If you apply in store right now, you will still get the regular redcard.

The MasterCard version has been around for a while, and in the last year or two they've been randomly upgrading people to it.

The one thing that is new is the offering of rewards for purchases outside of Target.

That's smart, since I never use my target MasterCard outside of target. I spend a few thousand dollars a month on other cards.
