So one of my stores team leaders will be leaving soon and I was asked last night if I'd be interested in applying for the job. I've only worked for target for a little over a year now and just graduated high school in 2015, I was honestly really shocked that they would ask me of all people but I still don't know if I want to do it, it seems like a difficult job for someone my age, any opinions?

@HLEtm - I think you should definitely go for it! If nothing else, it will be a great learning experience to go through the process. You have nothing to lose, and - depending on your personality - you might really love the position and the responsibility. If you take an enthusiastic and collaborative approach to the process, it should be a really positive experience, no matter what the outcome.

If it's something that you are interested in then go for it! However, if you plan on going to school, it will be tough to rock 36+ hours a week on top of full time school. It's doable, but definitely tough.

What exactly are the responsibilities of a team lead? Is it ASANTS? If so, are there at least core responsibilities that a TL has? (I'm particularly interested in the responsibilities of an electronics TL)

There isn't a dedicated Electronics TL at my store. Toys, stationary-sporting goods, and electronics is one TL's area. Setting sales planners/endcaps is a big one.

Same for my store... we just call them Electronics TL for some reason...

The annual TL shuffle is coming up, it is possible it wont be hardlines.

It's already happening at my store...ugh

What is this Team Lead shuffle you speak of?

AE (Achieving Excellence) is the beginning of the year announcements regarding streamlining and improving processes/positions. It's become well known as a way the company gets rid of team lead or other positions (cough, specialists, cough).
A lot of the time stores will move team leads around (depending if they are at their 18 months in role) to help team leads develop, become more global, and learn new work centers after the AE meetings/announcements.

It's usually 40 hours a week. You're the big man/women for your department. You will be in charge of writing up team members and issuing coachings. If something goes wrong in your department, you're in big trouble.

You would think that ETLs would be held accountable to each of their workcenters just like us TLs.
