Warning issued
I am so sick and tired of teenagers. They are loud, obnoxious, steal, basketball in store or come in with the scooter, they are disrespectful.

Last weekend I had to kick out a group of 18 teenagers for disruptive behavior. I am so tired of teenagers getting into our store. They are always causing a havoc.

I wish Target would just ban anyone under the age of 18 from their stores. They shouldn’t be allowed in and an ID should be needed for someone who looks under 25.

welcome!
partner with ap to help you.

AP, fast. Hire some big bucks who look the part, not a skinny 22 year old female or a 125lb dude with a manbun. Intimidate. My local T has a formidable AP crew and we have lots of young kids at any one time in the store. Several colleges nearby. These kids spend money, have money and have never caused any problems.

I mean teenagers between 13 and 17 years, not college kids who are typically around 18-22 with jobs.

My Target banned anyone under 18 without an adult with them so it’s good for me now. Teens aren’t completely banned at my location but it requires them to be accompanied by an adult.
I can’t stand teenagers and i think they should make the rule even tighter. I think anyone under the age of 18 shpuldnt be allowed at Target, even if accompanied by an adult. The rule should also be company wide.

There is no good reason for a teenager to go to Target. I hate having to deal with teenagers, i kicked out a group of 6 teenage boys several months ago, and there have been some instances where i had to call the police because of vandalism or from the teenagers making threats. I’ve got a few of the teens arrested over the past several years. Kids these days don’t know how to behave.

Nothing like a good classic sweeping generalization. You sound miserable.

Really? I can think of lots of reasons they might go to Target:

1. They may be the oldest child of a single parent who sends them to the store to get groceries for younger siblings.
2. They may be menstruating and need tampons or pads.
3. They may work there. Or looking to get hired there.
4. They may be looking for a Mother's Day/Father's Day gift. Or any type of gift.
5. They may not have heat/air conditioning at home (or it's storming) and this where they can get a reprieve from the outside weather.
6. They might be getting school supplies for a classmate who can't afford them.
7. They might be a parent themselves who needs baby formula.
8. They might be shopping for art supplies for when they babysit the neighbor kids next.
9. They may be stopping in for an after school snack because there is no food at home.
10. They may not have a reliable adult in their life to help them shop.

There are a lot of reasons people go a store. Using blanket generalizations for your claims diminishes what your actual issue is. You don't have a problem with teenagers, you have a problem with teenagers who are misbehaving. The two groups do not overlap exclusively; some does not equal all.

If you want to make grandiose statements, use better arguments or you lose credibility fast.

We see the teens at our local Planet Fitness gym and they are fine. Never any trouble. The boys flex in front of the mirrors, the girls chat away on their phones, do their cardio routines wearing sweats and football jerseys and have a good time. Management never has to discipline them. The teens at the Target behave. Give the kids a break, it's probably tough being a kid nowadays. It was easy in the '60s.

There are definitely some teens at my store who are trouble - spraying shaving cream around is my personal peeve. They'll open and sniff so many bottles of body wash, like it's their entertainment activity for the day. Or giggle in the aisle with birth control, pregnancy tests, and sex toys. Or bounce balls down a race track.

But not all teens are problems. Plenty of them are well-behaved, even helpful if I drop something.

One thing I'd add to @SigningLady's list is that teens need to learn how money works and how to make good buying decisions. I learned that stuff by helping my mom at the store.

I learned early and played the market (my father did the legwork) I supplied the funds when I was in my mid teens. Mowed lawns, washed cars, picked weeds, worked in a dry cleaners, strung tennis racquets at a mom and pop local sporting goods store. Kids need to work, anything, dirty jobs included.
