Will I get fired

Expiration report non perishable food expires 12/16 this year..system told me to destroy….I destroyed the product in the system but donated the product…..will I get fired for doing this? I asked the clerical she said it was ok to do….thoughts?

You shouldn’t get fired however you should follow the final disposition. If it’s destroy do so if it’s donate you put it in the donation bin.

Do not listen to the clerical. It may have been okay this once instance but if I caught this as an STSS and a pattern was found, I would absolutely open an investigation with the assumption if you were willing to break protocol to donate, you were likely also stealing some items you entered as destroyed.
That is an area that, at least at my DC, we would audit daily.
Even if you didnt actually steal, the fact that you were going against process would get reported to HR and they would possibly (likely) fire.

Also if the Target system is telling you to destroy, and someone gets sick because you donated it, you may be in worse trouble than firing.

Probably fine this one time. Just dont do it again.

Dammm well it was nice working here I guess I’ll bring my cardboard box on my next shift so I can put my things in it as they send me on my way …then I’ll stop by the food bank and eat what a donated I guess.. 💀💀💀
