Recently my store switched over from hardlines and softlines doing wave zones throughout the store, to each of us getting our own separate department. So, I'm curious, how do the rest of ya'lls hardlines/softlines teams zone?

Wave zoning decreases vibe & guest service. Doing your own department is much easier, especially with hours for tm's are being cut again for 4th quarter.

Wave zones only happen at noon when HL & SL each attack a problem area of the store. Other than that, closers each get their own section of the store. Stronger people get bigger sections.

And yet the weaker still get as much money as the strong.

We split the hardline's sections between team members and then eventually we all make our way up to zone market after we're done. The softlines team always does a wave zone; I'm super jealous, I get so bored zoning by myself.

We split up our zone between two HL team member's. One will also be responsible for covering the electronics tm's break and lunch.

Wave Zoning was thought up about 5 years ago. Some stores had it work, but some stores it failed.

With the Vibe thing going on, having TMs zone individual departments is best.

The easiest thing to do is work your sections reshop first and after breaks/lunches. Zone bulky items/less shopped areas first, then detail your hardest shopped areas last.
