Scanning RDC isn't forced. Stores don't have to but it's being encouraged.

TL says they are unloading the truck
Everything gets scanned automatically with a scanner stationed at the line with a screen. It shows different colors for different meanings.
Then once the truck is done TL says it’s unloaded.

They could also let each custom block get a barcode and have the TM scan it to start and end pushing. Helps locate it for fulfillment. The way the system would know what vehicle it’s on is simple. It automatically is added to the vehicle by aisle (for market and similar) or by a bulky batch for OPU (for kitchen and similar)

This works on paper, but not in reality. What happens when you have to switch out vehicles? What if you run out of vehicles? How does it work with the bulk pallets and PIPOs?

Simple you can tie items to the new vehicle. PIPOs are just tied to a pallet. Bulk pallets would be tied together by the DC

FDC sort process rolling out to GM stores. Small formats next year but you can ask to get it if you have reach ins.

The FDC sort process essentially makes product located at all times as you scan each box and locate on vehicles like SFS. You can see vehicles to be worked. Supposedly you can tell if an item is on a particular vehicle which helps fulfillment.

Who can't see where this is going? This will become like the pog guided set process. What it will amount to is, yes it will be located for fulfillment but also a metric about how long it took the tm to work that uboat. Essentially scan the barcode to start pushing scan again when you are done. Who doesn't love a new metric?! The system can then track pushes that take longer and automatically add up "demerits" for the tm and put it all neatly in a greenfield grid. It could also track push times and if the person is pushing quicker than the push time they can deduct time from the push time saving them hours.$$$$$$

So then come raise time or nice working with you time, its all neatly in a chart in Greenfield for each tm: a push time metric, attendance metric and store sales. Leaders up the chain could then be judged by their teams metrics. No need for a 2 hour meeting anymore to decide who gets what raises or bonuses the numbers will already have decided it.😂

So every box would have to be scanned by hand and scanned again to tie to the vehicle? For 3 trucks a day (in some stores)? And every piece of style I am assuming would have to be tied manually to a z rack or metro?

But then again if there was a start and stop time metric on push we would need less leadership which translates to $$$ Instead of 4 ETLs and 7 TL's (for example) walking around the store all day checking on tms, two or three people could literally glance at the Zebra and see where everyone is with push walk the floor 2x a day and give verbal warnings to those who are falling behind.

No. They would purchase a scanner that automatically scans it. Zebra makes it

Do you remember way back when Modernization was just coming out and fulfillment was in its infant stage and we were told how pulls were going to be located on the red tubs for findability? This sounds like that. And guess what? The process fell apart before it even got started and we never did it.

Party freight will probably double and we will continue to schedule one TM in stationery for 2 hours a couple times per week and wonder why the zone isn't green.
