By overloading the training meter, he means get cross-trained in as many areas as you can. Not only could you jump into higher paygrades, you could be more likely to get promoted to TL.

I think it depends on the store. When I left, the only work centers I didn't know were SFT, CO, receiving/reverse logistics, and AP. (Two of those you're unlikely to cover...) there were a few of us like that and they were hesitant to promote people or move them up a pay grade. Expect more, pay less.
 
Now on week 3...
I was "warned" the other day because I went 20 Minutes over and the week after thanksgiving my schedule was for below 27 hours. :( I'm one of the ones that always runs for back up, helping guests, carry outs, checking stuff for the operator, volunteers when they call me to see if i want to come in. yet i get the shaft
