I have two questions

Question #1: Do you see this template (AE2014) actually sticking? I am a PA in Market, yet I know (Most of the TL's and Sr. TL's in my store trust and talk to me almost as if I am a TL) every single TL in my store is grinding their teeth every day so they don't pull their hair out... Being in Market I am beyond used to having absolutely no help but my own damn hands and if my day ISN'T stressful I actually have no idea what to do.

Question #2: I was told I was looking at to be benched 1st by January, then by December, then I got huge recognition from our group visit and it was bumped to by October... While it almost October I have yet to really hear anything about it since I was told "by October" and that was about a month and a half ago... I kind of knew it was more likely a Carrot-on-a-Stick, as they did it to the PA who trained me, and actually quit about 4-5 months before I was I would be looked at to be benched.

My question is, what should I do I guess, haha. I have a BA and could actually apply for ETL in training if I cared too as well.

#1: AE2014 will stick. For the foreseeable future. The sooner Target gives up in Canada, the sooner we can get back to business in the states, where we actually make profit.

#2: Don't get too excited until you start your first day in your new position. I've seen too many promotions get halted in the works, several in the last steps. Keep doing your best, like you'd do no matter what. If someone pulls you out to do more, GREAT!

Getting promoted at Target is one part popularity contest, two parts beauty pageant, three parts luck.

Strangely at our store it seemed the yearly raises didn't meet the letter grades you got very well either. ie. Not everyone who was a "E" got the same raise. I actually think my "E" might have been a bigger raise than I have heard of people getting for "EX" or "O". Are the letters more likely determined by conversion scores whereas the actual $ amounts have more wiggle room to be affected by other factors?

I'd need an HR exec to give you a better answer. I know TL's have a quantitative score associated with their qualitative rating. (96 for an O) I don't believe this is the case at the TM level.

I'm assuming an E would garner the same percent merit increase. If your peer earned more peer hour than you, they would receive a bigger raise even though the percent increase was the same.

Wish I could answer this one better.

Have you heard anything about AE2015? Rumor mill from a few STL's I keep in touch with is further leadership cuts. Primarily the cutting of ETL-GE and integrating that into ETL-Salesfloor and the rest of the stores going to ETL-Salesfloor rather than one for Softlines and 1 for Hardlines(I'm surprised you're still a ETL-Hardlines and not ETL-Salesfloor TBH). There's also rumors of combining TL-Electronics and TL-Consumables so that there is 1 "speciality" salesfloor TL.

@RetailWorld I've been offered an ETL position and the DTL told me during a phone conversation I had that they want me as ETL-Logistics or ETL-salesfloor. I said I thought it was hardlines and softlines and they said no it's salesfloor covering everything. Found that to be interesting compared to when I worked there 7 years ago. A lot has changed that's for sure.

Please no. Electronics is the forgotten middle child of the store. only MMB, not NOT Entertainment, is more neglected. Consumables has enough of nightmare to deal with.

I do wish they our heat beloved masters would stop lying and just call it what it is: Grind them to dust 2015. much more accurate than "Achieving Excellence 2015"

That really makes no sense to me honestly. I would mix electronics TL with Hardlines TL honestly and that is how it is at my store. We never had an electronic TL, only an entertainment specialist.

Worked at an AA+ and B store, had Electronics TL for both. However at my Super Target, they had "Sales Floor" as everything hardlines non grocery, and they scheduled hardlines as consumables only.

TL-Electroncis and TL-Consumables would be a fucking disaster. Can this like not happenn.

I dunno what they'd do at my store. We have ETL-GE and ETL-Salesfloor and tbh if this happens I honestly hope they would get rid of our current ETL-Salesfloor and replace her with our current ETL-GE, since he was previously ETL-Salesfloor and he's like one of the few people who actually started as a TM and rose to ETL.

Well, with AE2014, there is no "Electronics TL" really...instead it's a salesfloor TL that also oversees electronics. That's (possibly) the goal with AE2015 but with consumables. But instead of having a salesfloor TL have Electronics + 2 letter blocks, a salesfloor TL with the other 3 letter blocks, 1 consumables TL, and 2 softlines TL(Which is AE2014)...it'll be Salesfloor TL with consumables/Electronics. Salesfloor TL with Hardlines. Salesfloor TL with Softlines. Then the ETL-GE/Salesfloor will have 3 salesfloor TL's + 2 front end TL's(1 TL will also oversee Target Cafe). There has to be a trim on team leads....the ETL Salesfloor/GE wouldn't be able to take on all those team leads as is for AE2014. 1 gets trimmed from Hardlines, 1 from softlines, 1 from frontend to accommodate the loss of an ETL

I wonder how long it'll be until they get rid of TL's all together and just displace all of their responsibilities on team members. It definitely feels like that's the road they're headed down.

How often do you have to crack down on people discussing labor unions?

Do you support Target's violently anti-union stance?

Dear God.. if they keep cutting leadership as they have in 2014... we are in deep trouble.
