okay so next week entertainment is supposed to be remodel with a focal..and music best sellers is eliminated and new gondolas....if some one has gone threw this transition can you explain, i have tons of hours for next week entertainment transition and i dont even have enought team members to fill that amount of hours ..and it huge transiton i switches everything again..and what makes me mad is we were a july grand opening pfresh store..and we reset entertainment like in july 1st...so im so mad that these adjacency changes did not took place during remodel.

If you just opened in July you should have basically the same adjacency. The only major moves is that you should get the focal and music bestsellers will be incorporated as the top two shelves of the browser. If you are on the racetrack and you have columns for each department (books, kidsworld, movies, music) you shouldn't have too many problems. Most everything should reset in the same place. As for my store, other than trade nr and pb nr, and magazines with maps, everything moves dramatically around the floorpad. We are still P04 where D.058 wraps around the perimeter of the department. BIG week for us!!!

well i saw the adjacency and during remodel the moves where like this...(electronics----movies/music/books ---mens wall) and kids books and kids dvd s are in the back wall , now with this reset it will be( electronics---music/kids world/books---mens wall ) and the back wall will be with dvd s arrange by genre.

Interesting. The transition packet said all stores should basically have the "distinct worlds" format. Our backwall is part books, part kids' books, part movies, and two sections for accessories. Sounds like you have a weird adjacency.

Our old adjacency (movies/music/books/ kids on backwall) and new adjacency (music/movies-box sets/kids books/books) with the back wall being books and dvds is just like yours.

We are going to start with cds and dvds first. This way we can move the cd browser and open up the gondolas. We will also claer off the best seller cds and move them into the browser and start moving the shelf fixtures to where they go for the next day since the aisle where the cds were will be empty. This way the next day when we set kids movies, kids books, and regular books the fixtures will be there already and all we have to do is put the strips in and stock them. The only things not moving are magazines and blu-ray except for kids blu-ray moving next to kids books and the addition of value blu-ray.

its amazing how many diff adjacencies there are. the only thing we have on our backwall is value movies. every single pog except magazines and computer software is moving on ours.

I'm surprised by the amount of adjacencies also. Obviously there are going to be differences between volumes, but it seems like almost every store has a different adjacency tailored to that specific area. You can most clearly see this in music.

Looks like music is shrinking down in every store and kids is getting grouped together which makes more sense.
There are going to be a interactive kids music display.
Fins, lots and lots of freaking fins.

Our music is actually expanding by 4 feet. Although, now that it's all basically browser we are getting in way more of a selection than we had before.

Yes all this different adjacencies are based on your type of guest,sales....if you tend to be a hispanic focus store..then you might have more latin cds, and dvds..etc. you know what i mean..and of course sales, if you music sales are slumping then you might have a smaller cd section..if you dvds sales are continuing to increase then you might have more dvd space...i saw this during remodel where my neighboring stores had a bigger cd browser and other stores had a smaller cd browser...like mine. but overall every store in my city lost an aisle or two in the entertainment department.

My store is supposely a Country genre store. Country is 4 sections and so is Rock and Pop. R&B is just 2 sections. I have moved all my browsers to the new locations. I still have the Best Sellers set in a different location. I will probably set the new cd stuff friday.

Our CD area stays the same amount of sections. They are shrinking Rock and Pop by two sections. We are now getting one section of latin music and one section of rock. Gonna be fun trying to separate all the rock from the pop since they used to be combined together.

Yeah. I had tons of fun separating rock and pop. What's funny is that my label strips for pop top hits includes several R&B cds. Oh well.

For the stores who have started or finished the entertainment transition, did you get all the shelves in? We are short some of the two-tiered shelves for kids reading. Hopefully they come in next week or we are gonna have to figure something out.

HOLY CRAP! You were allowed to leave an aisle empty? I had to explain 3 different times today as to how I wasn't going to leave ANY section in MMB empty (though I guess now it should be MMKB, but I digress). I wish I could vent more on the subject, but it would 'out' me. By the by, has any other plano teams noticed that they are being scheduled about 10-20% less hours than the adjacency calls for? Or being told "Those are Spots expectations, not TXXXX"?

So for our focal with the Glee stuff, our endwall with the pegboard in it seems to be way too short! It's like 4 feet tall but the backer paper that goes on it is at least 5.5 feet tall...it's almost the height of a regular endcap. What could be wrong here....

We set ours tomorrow so I'll check it out.

My SFT called some area stores and they apparently have bigger end walls. Uh oh... And they are non-TV test stores just like ours.

And of course we didn't get all the pieces for the freaking Glee focal and the weld on one of the pieces broke in transit. Please shoot me now.

We were missing a little brace for something but it will be fine without. I had a minor freak out when I thought I was missing all the L shelves, until I remembered where I stuffed them away when they came a week before everything else....

i feel the same way lol. We were missing the shorter of the 2 endcap panels when my SFT and i build it. I reordered it but the lead in time for it was 98 days though so i don't think I'm going to see that peice anytime soon....
Luckily though my SFT is awesome and was able to make something temp outta the old fixture so we atleast have the ability to put shelves up on it.

did you guys get backer for all your sections?
im just wondering. our pogs call for toppers. we are a really old store. none of our stuff has pegboard to put backer on, and you can't with the type of fixtures we have. i get this huge pallet of signing, 90% of it's new backer we can't use, strips that aren't called for. i had two boxes out of the pallets (so far) that actually went out between the books and music sections. mmb still looks ugly. i was superexcited about the colors, and all we get to use is stinking toppers.

also, our browser reduced, and we have 4 ft for gospel/soundtracks. we are not allowed to backstock cds and they all will not fit. even after pulling the discontinued and filled everything to the brim, we still have too much. i'm hoping the scan/mirs will take care of part of it. my brtl and etllog is stroking about having cd backstock. i told them it's better to be represented on the floor and located in the back than tossed on a glee endcap. how's your browsers working out?

On ours there was a regular 72" endcap that went between the main gondola and the focal, which is where the glittery blue paper and the sign go. 'course that meant there was no paper for the 4' end... but oh well! HQ doesn't ship the right things, we just do the best we can!

We got a ton of backer we couldn't use as we had to pegboard. Our signing specialist recons they wanted it double-sided taped to the gondolas, but we nixed that idea.

Also, there was a note online that some of the colored signing, specifically the orange strips for music that replace those plexi fronts on the shelves were coming up not on planogram but they should go out anyways.

When our SFT built our focal he installed a 72" high x 30" wide pegboard that came in for it.

We also got tons of backer paper in that we didn't use. The only planograms that called for backer paper for us were the ones on the backwall and the the two runs that were on actual tall white gondolas. We tossed the backer paper we didn't use which was about 85% of what came in.
