I did it just to mess around, apply for ETL positions around my state and below me to see what would happen. My STL told his boss that i didn't have a college degree (it's either 4 year degree or experience) and i was denied. However, i'm just curious if anyone's seen this. I know they were hire ons as ETL of course- but no college degree, and a ETL?

I am curious, can i apply to become a executive intern while in college, and as a TM now?

Someone on here had an STL who rose from arguably the least of positions (cart attendant) FYI: I am not saying cart attendants are below anyone else. Just feel the consensus is its the worst job in the store considering they deal with poop, pee, over aggressive drivers and too hot or too cold weather.

As a TM I imagine you would need to climb to TL before you were considered for an ETL position.

Most EITs come from outside Target to my knowledge but its worth a shot trying.

I've never personally seen it. The few people I have seen promoted to ETL were TLs or SrTLs and were hired on as such, as far as I know. At least one of them was a case of "failing upward" while aggressively drinking the Target Kool-Aid and being someone's favorite. I feel like all of my degree-less ETLs have been with Target for 15+ years...

Honestly, to get to ETL you pretty much have to work your way up through the ranks. I have seen a TM go straight to TL, but she also kind of crashed and burned. You really want to be able to build reputation and knowledge, anyway. If you need better pay, you're better off applying to jobs outside of Target.

The requirement for a four year degree was only lifted this past July, so it's a bit early to tell how much Target will be hiring people for ETL without degrees.

Personally, I was hired as a TM and worked my way up to ETL over the course of about three years.

Yeah my friend did, he was then offered an stl position. It should be noted he had prior experience and a college degree.

It's possible. I've never seen it we did have a tm with no degree become a tl and then got promoted to etl. She's now on the bench for STL

I've seen team members go to TL and then to ETL and I've seen one team member go straight from team member to ETL-HR, and then to STL barely 2 years later. Needless to say, she was a bit overqualified when she applied as a flow TM...

Also, the regional director (or whatever the top position is called) for R400 started as a cart attendant.

Started as a cart attendant went to tl to etl to STL to DTL now is the top man

Had a buddy in electronics graduated with his degree and a month later was made into ETL that's about it

Geoup TL of group 300 started as a seasonal CA. I wonder if it's the same person over 2 groups or just CAs are in on something!

As difficult as I find that to believe, I am now tempted to map out the social hierarchy for Target. Succeeding cart attendant, maybe cashiers and flow.

wait my regional director was a cart attendant????

wow

The only ones that I've seen so it were in AP, and got hired as ETL-AP's. The guy that trained me went from TPS at his store, became an intern at my store, was offered an extended inern/TL position, then was given ETL-AP at another store in the district.
Another guy I met a few times moved up to Sr.APS before applying and getting ETL-AP. I'm not sure if he has a degree or not though.
Also, one of our ETL'S started out as Cart Attendant years ago, but he's also bounced around jobs a lot amd was promoted to an assistant manager at another retailer before getting rehired as ETL at Target.

I think you guys are talking about Samir. According to his LinkedIn he actually left Target for sometime to become a bank manager. He later came back as an STL.

I've seen TMs without degrees become ETL. If they wanted you bad enough before they could always waive it. One was my ETL AP. Went from TPS to APS to Investigation Specialist. Then was offered ETL AP.

My new stl started as a cashier, then gstl, sr.gstl, etl hr, etl ops, and now 3rd rotation stl. Let me tell you this she is so much easier to work with than my previous stl. She actually sets realistic goals and gives you the tools and resources to succeed. It really should be a requirement to start at the bottom.

My ETL-HR started as a seasonal cashier, to a TL position to a district position and now this.

It was this regional senior vp:
From Cart Attendant to Target Exec: Samir Shah Achieves His Dream
He will show up in your store unaccounce in shorts & flip flops. He has done it, a few times. Then asks the gstl or gsa for the lod... panic sets it & too late. He got pictures & stories about Tm's after walking around your store.

Yes, it took him 5 years going from a Cashier-GSA-GSTL-to Sr GSTL, got a degree that had nothing to do with business management but applied for E-GE anyways and got the job because they knew how good of a worker he was.
