its been 5 days already, and I'm liking the job. Its mostly physical work and lots of walking and I enjoy that.
Only thing that has been dragging me since training day is reading the labels. I am getting to know the isles and where the items are. But when we're grabbing the items from the pallets and stocking them in the isles. Checking the label which they have 3 main numbers some may said G32* 2-4-7 and under it, I can barely see the name of the item like Dove white soap bar or whatever. But I'm just struggling with numbers and I'm confused on where to put them on the shelves.

My trainer has been telling me to count but I get even more confused and when they see I'm counting people come to me and I get nervous. I want to really get this down and work more efficiently.

I would appreciate a ton if anyone would help me figure out what those numbers are or if there's a video that will be great.

On the pick label, there can be a few "indicators" that dictate what to do with the product. On the label, it will be near the "Ad 08/21" in the example. If there is a "P", it means it needs to be pushed out. If there is an "S", it means stage. "B" means it's backstock...and part of the backrooms metrics is making sure that all product that has a "B" indicator gets backstocked. Otherwise your team is being inefficient and taking stuff out to the floor when they don't have to. If your store is a "Push All" store, this is how you tell the difference between what you need to take to the floor and what stays in the back without scanning everything on the line.

With the change to myPerformance though, it could be that this isn't a key metric anymore. I haven't dived into the backroom metrics with myPerformance.

Typically your NOP product will have some kind of info on the pick label that will give you a bit of insight on what's going on with it. If it's on AD, it could be there will be staged off area on the floor...or it could be that the planogram isn't in the system yet, so there will be a T indicator(Transition) with the date letting you know when it will be set. But if it's NOP or D-Code at this point, been in your store for awhile, and it looks like there will be no space or planogram for it in the foreseeable future...mySupport it, and request a CLR markdown on it.

That label picture is amazing.

Being able to count the sections as you carry the box to the location is a huge time saver. I see people at my store that have been there for 6+ months who still open boxes, look at the product and stare at the shelves.

I made this as kind of a visual aid.

Here is how I teach my team to read labels. I break them into a few different parts. For example, A21(4)2-3-2. You're pushing a sweet ass box of pimp my ride action figures. See Xzibit on the shelf there? Some nice sales floor team member already stocked some in the right place, and he did his reshop while he pushed so he could push while he pushed. Dawg. In our example, the aisle is Reverse, because the main aisle is on the right side. More on that below. Your aisle also has multiple planograms in it, because some jackass at corporate decided that we only need 8 feet of bratz dolls now, so we can fit out the 16 pallets of MYSIZE Elsa and Anna dolls, even though no one wants Anna, and we'll sell out of Elsa in 3 days. Anyway, onward! If an aisle has more than one planogram, you will see a number in Parenthesis, here, it's (4)

1) First you start with the aisle, go to Aisle A21.
2) Next you look at the number in parens. 0 = Endcap. Remember FOBE. Front odd, back even. If it is a zero, and the aisle is even, it's the back end, if it's odd, it's the front end.
3) Ok, it's not zero, it's A21(4). Start at the section closest to the main aisle (big ass red line), count 4 sections into the aisle.
4) Alright, We're at A21(4). Now you start counting again. 2-3-2. The section you are in front of (4) is the first section of that planogram, we need to get to 2, so go to the next one.
5) We're at A21(4)2. Now all we have left is 3-2. So it's third shelf from the bottom (3), second item on the shelf(2).
6 Put it all together, and we go to Aisle A21, go to the fourth section. Count 2 sections from there, third shelf from the bottom, second item on the shelf.

Some things that will help you remember until it becomes second nature.

FOBE - Front odd, back even. If the number in parens is 0, Odd aisles are front ends, even aisles are back.
Red, Right, Reverse. If the red line is on your right side, the aisle is reverse. This means you start from the right and move left. If the line is on your left, you start left and move right. There are a few areas where this does not hold true (cosmetics is always left to right, and all back walls are always left to right, with the exception of toys where your wall is reverse due to some stupid space agreement with play-doh. But just forget all of this shit and read the stuff I didn't put in parenthesis)

Hope this helped.
