Archived reasons that target fires people

C'mon people... Let's face it. Target recruits young, attractive "talent" in order to maintain that brand image they have built a foundation on.

If you get too old, you're toast. If your not attractive, your stuck. If your young, attractive and affluent... Well the skys the limit...

Until you get to your late thirties. Jump ship folks. There is a world outside of Target (despite what they'll convince you of).

Good Luck too you all as I'm sure I'll be forever banned after my comments

It is true, some of the hottest TMs are my store are the ETLs. Although some recent transfers and overindulgences at McDonald's have kind of affected that

Like my old ETL-GE, the new ETL-AP, & the ETL-HR......... *bite lip*

does that really work on anybody though? You don't think guests are thinking "wow what an idiot I'm never shopping at target again" after some fresh etl completely mishandles an experience with them? I don't know but I think people either choose to shop at the place with the best stuff or the lowest prices.

Make sure you are able to zone the entire "world' or you will be terminated. I was told yesterday that I will be terminated at the end of my 90-day probationary period because I do not Zone fast enough. I have been explained that the expectation is that you Zone your entire area every night. I have to be honest zoning 84 aisles (A 1-52 and B1-42) every night while doing backup, helping guests and pushing stuff to the floor seems very unrealistic to me, but apparently I am missing something.

Jesus, that sounds unrealistic to me. Is A chemicals and HBA and pets and stuff? We never make one person zone anything else if they're doing A, they just stay in A all night. Sometimes they'll run through B and get stuff up off the base deck but that's it.

Sounds about a Typical night at my store. A and B. Same person might have to do C or G as well.

Things that I've heard of: TM discount card violations, stealing gift cards from guests, stealing in general, losing keys, handing keys to non-Target employees (like reps), NCNS, constantly late, taking overly long breaks, gross insubordination
I hand my keys to the video game vendors all the time, but they are the only ones. I see them every month and usually I'm listening to them ramble on about how great their console is anyway so I'm right there.

Last couple of guys who were fired from our store: One was a creepy 35 yr old cart attendant who kept touching young female TMs in inappropriate ways, finally got the ban hammer. Another came to work drunk. Another pulled a knife on a guy while they were working the truck and said, "Do you want to die?" I think that is about all I remember. Hardly anyone gets fired from my store.

My sister just got busted using my team member discount card. The cashiers ripped up the card and contacted my store. I got called into the office and gave my statement. Now i am wondering what's going to happen am i going to get fired???????

I am going to say this and I am dead serious - DO NOT GO BACK TO YOUR STORE EVER AGAIN.

Your job is over - you will be termed once you go to work for your next shift. There is zero chance you will not be termed for this. Also, this is also considered stealing from the company. More than likely AP will be involved. You will be brought in to an office and escorted out of the store by AP after they are done telling you that you are fired. Since another store called your store and have your sister on video using your card they will be forced to take action.

Just start looking for a new job, and don't show up for work. I am not even joking - it is a hugely embarrassing experience to be escorted out of the store in front of guests/TMs. Don't give them that satisfaction at your expense.

Lol what. I have worked at Target for awhile now and my brother uses my discount all the time. I see family members of our TMs use the discount and no one says anything. HELL, my STL rang up the father of one of our younger TMs and the father pulled out the discount, and my STL scanned it. While I know that's not right, the point is everyone does it and I doubt it would be this big of a scene.

there's been 10 TM's this year a long who have been fired for letting non-dependents using their discount. Just yesterday a TM from another store came in and went through the ETL-AP's line and he handed over his discount to each of his friends to use. She called their store and he was being fired the next time he worked. Our district takes it very seriously. They would never arrest someone or anything for it but you would be termed.

At my store we recently had people out for coupons.
Earlier this year we had one fired for keeping gift cards and another for stealing over 2K from the registers.

The best advice I can give you from my experience initiating internal investigations would be to go by your gut feeling. If you think it's fishy, then it's probably fishy. If you're doing an even exchange and you're getting money back because you didn't scan your discount in one of the transactions, then you should probably stop the person ringing you up and see what needs to be done to get that even exchange back to 0. YOU are responsible and YOU are held accountable for your actions, not the team member ringing you up (depending on the situation).

Most of the investigations I started were from TM's going against common-sense logic. Using their discount for friends, creating repackage tickets for items and purchasing them before they hit the sales floor, conducting their own transactions, etc. You may think you're being smooth, and you might be, but if your transaction doesn't flag under one of your ETL-AP's dozens of reports, there's a good chance they can stumble upon it as they review POS video. A majority of the cases I started were found by reviewing random team member transactions on our archive player.

How about the 31 people (so far) that have been fired from my store for using the barcode from the $3 apology coupon in the past two weeks? Apparently someone took a picture of it and was sending it to other TMs who were using it on every transaction.
Are you serious? Those are some 31 idiots for them to do that. It's essentially stealing money from Target.

to all those people talking about the Discount Cards and TMs cheating their way through, stealing money, giftcards.... does it surprise you though? Look at what they are doing to us.... cutting our hours where ever they can, not considering that we have bills to pay and mouths to feed. I am not saying it's the right thing to do, AT ALL, but damn....

I don't think that justifies anything...my financial situation would never cloud my integrity.

Mine either but I can definitely understand where they're coming from.

i don't condone it, as a matter a fact, I get pissed when i find stuff (and it happens a LOT) not spider wrapped out on the floor. It gets stolen, it comes out of my hours, pretty much. I'm just saying there are those type of people that will do it...

Enfamil is actually a high-theft item - not because mothers steal it, but because people go from store to store stealing as much as they can to sell on craiglist or at swapmeets. Most Enfamil thieves are part of organized retail crime rings that will actually send out women with strollers (even some with infants) to conceal the product under the stroller.

Basically, like a black market for infant formula. That's pretty depressing. Thanks for the insight.

Infant formula is also used to cut heroin and cocaine. Much more profitable than reselling it.
