Supertarget here. We get the Hardlines ad prepped in 5 hours on Thursday. Then Saturday someone spends another hour or so doing the ad corrections that arrived Friday. The 7x11s are arranged by "path" and 1 person puts those up Sunday morning.

Softlines is prepped by a softlines brand lead who also sets adjacencies and works the zracks on truck days. She spends an hour at most.

WHY are some of you spending 15 hours prepping??????
Because they can. I run the hours allocation when I check my actual signing allocation for the week (from corporate not store). Its consistently meant to be 5-10hrs a week total. But the ONE week we insisted they only have what was forcasted "they couldn't get it done-its not possible-you have to give us more hours". So now they are back to two of them twice a week 4-6hrs a day.

Kicker is the one tells me today he'd rather do pricing labels two days a week instead of ad-prep. Mother fucker you only get to do pricing labels because you don't have enough to do with ad prep because you are overscheduled....ARGH.

Stores that are spending too many hours prepping, you have the wrong people doing it. At my store it's all brand leads. (I am one also). Our cosmetics person is the one that does it in less than 5 hours on Thursdays. Except 4th quarter she always gets done early and does reshop or pulls the rest of the time.
Make sure they're not on their phone texting and fb'ing while prepping. We used to have someone like that a few years ago. She wasted hours horribly.

We have one person scheduled 7 hours on Saturday to do all of the ad prep. Quite frequently she doesn't need all 7 hours and will spend an hour or two on the registers or pushing pulls at the end of her day.

Our signing person retired last week, I mentioned many times that I was interested in the position (I'm currently on Planogram) well now I'm doing the signing, but only because "plano is absorbing the signing duties".
We get no extra person, no extra hours, and I got NO TRAINING! Just had to figure it out own my own...

So here is a ad prep question. For the * and u will sympathize with me if u do this* perfume aisle.... Does everyone else have to locate that crap too? And second question is it possible to just print the signs for the aisle on Sunday morning rather than scanning 857 signs? And for the love of God a WHY do they not know where that stuff is located? Do they think we randomly relocate that stuff by the day without their say so???

After this thread.. I agree! I am going to be watching this, and reviewing what these people are doing, and probably suggest that the TM(s) doing it be replaced.

We don't have any of those. There was talk we were to "have" a cosmetics one, it never happened.

fb'ing while prepping.

I think I am almost afraid to ask what that is.. as it sounds perverse. And most definitely not FFF.

Well I am thinking something is going on.. based on here...

Fb'ing while prepping. Posting on her facebook while working. Because she's in an office w no supervision for HOURS. She talked on her phone, texted people, and responded to fb all while prepping ad. Once her phone died, so she walked around the store for a half hour asking everyone if they had a charger she could borrow. She was clocked in the entire time.

Huh? We don't have perfume signing issues ever.
Did you check to make sure the pog is tied?

Could it be signs for unset endcap Sales plans? ie at the time of printing, the endcap is not set/tied.

One of my HL TMs does all of the sign prep over 1 day a week. She usually finishes early and helps out on the sales floor afterwards.

When I first started doing the prep, it was the 3x5 signs that had to be torn and also the tpc and circular signs were separated, not to mention that 80pg report you had to check off each sign. I was guaranteed 16 hours when I accepted the position. So even though the signs changed, my hours stayed the same. Like I said, I was scheduled two days, but I always finished early unless is was a huge ad.

I'm the signing specialist. I work every Sunday (4-8 hours), and do the end cap audit. We have a designated signing prep person, she usually works pricing mon-wed and signing stuff thursdyay/Sunday. The ad is put up by a bunch of different people from all over. Plano does it if the hours are low. PPTL writes the schedule, so she gives her teams first dibs on ad hours.

The located signs are a breeze. It's scanning through all the unlocated signs and all of them have the wrong location on a current pog and this new pog isnt set yet and need to be rewritten otherwise it won't be signed for the 3 sometimes 4 days before POG can reset and put up the signs. For some reason we don't get signs for aisles that are due to be reset that week. We get the new POG signs but not the current one. None of our cosmetic and perfume signs come in located either. Don't know why. My ad prep tm uses like 12 or 13 and the other 2 she is scheduled is used to help pricing because they never forecast enough for us.
