My Target location has a sign saying “All guests under the age of 18 are not allowed in this Target store”, meaning anyone under 18 is banned from my store even if supervised.

My store did have an issue with teenagers (especially teenage boys) causing trouble in the store, bashing employees, and using slurs and I kind of like this policy. But, what do you think about?

Essentially at my store, if you are under 18 or you’re with someone under 18, you can’t come in the store.

Wow, so parents can't bring their young children with them on their Target run? I'd love it if unsupervised children weren't allowed (way too much shaving cream sprayed around by stupid teenagers and sampling in cosmetics), but the "no one under 18" policy seems awfully extreme.
What about parents buying clothes or shoes for their kids? Or kids shopping with their dads for Mother's Day? Most kids at my store are well-behaved or respond positively when I say, "No running, please." There's the occasional kid who insists on bouncing a ball as they walk along and that's annoying. But mostly, they're pretty good.

Well there’s a location that’s close to my store that requires anyone under 18 to be with an adult, there’s no complete ban in the close location to mine but that one has a supervision policy. This policy was actually around for longer as i removed it being enforced for YEARS. That store I remember said “All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at this Target store”.

Mine doesn’t let people under the age of 18 in at all. Online I’ve heard one location online that bans anyone under 18 unless the child is 5 and under and accompanied by an adult, but I haven’t seen those around here, and that type of rule seems a bit discriminatory as it’s allowing some kids but not others. So young kids can come in but not older kids/teenagers.

I think not allowing kids under 18 at all is crazy but I do want unsupervised kids under the age of 16 to be banned. Young teens 13 to 15 are the ones causing trouble. The older teens 16 to 17 are usually fine at our store.

We have issues with middle schoolers and young highschoolers causing havoc in our store.

I think kids should be allowed in Target with adult supervision. I also think age 18 is a bit much I think 16 would be a bit better. As we don’t have much issues with older teens.

As I said in the other thread:
Middle school kids running their friends around in a Caroline's cart, making it unavailable for those who needed it, high school girls riding around on the electric carts with their Starbucks drinks until the carts' batteries die (usually in the back of the store), skate rats stealing soda cups & refilling them over & over before pouring them out somewhere on the salesfloor or on a display, older boys ripping open & loading Nerf guns & having battles in the aisles til they're bounced, others pulling down smaller kids' bikes & riding them down the back aisles, kids taking playground balls & trying to toss them over the headers into the next aisle (hitting smaller kids & being confronted by angry dads), moms buying their kids tons of pizzas/hotdogs/pretzels/other messy foods & leaving them in the dining area to start a food fight while mom is off shopping - all while cutting staff & AP.
This is why I hate summers.

I have issues with young teens and tweens all the time. Playing with balls, treating it like a playground, being loud, using slurs, skateboarding, and riding bikes.

Like I said before, most of the teens over 16 are fine at our store but i occasionally get a 16-17 year old who behaves like the younger teens but I don’t usually get those.

I am all for a rule that bans kids under 16 from the store unless they are supervised by a parent.
