What do you want in your breakroom?

I wish my store had a freaking hot plate. I want tea.

We have two water dispensers, which I can't figure out why, but they do hot and cold water. And you could heat it in the microwave? Or get them to get an electric kettle?

A hot plate could be a major fire issue in our store I'm thinking....

But really, ours has almost everything I think.

We have a really nice Keurig machine in our breakroom. It does Tea (Hot and Cold), Coffee (Normal and Iced) and hot chocolate. It's wonderful!

A clean floor

If you're a morning TM, talk to your SFT, housekeeping should be cleaning it daily. If you work later in the day, talk to your ETL-HR/ HRTL and have the cart attendant go clean it. Spot is serious about keeping a break room clean.

Good tea requires boiling water, not just "hot" water. A hot plate would work but one of those electric kettles is quicker and easier. After years of boiling water in a kettle on a gas stove at home we got an electric kettle and I would never go back. It might even fit in your locker if you don't trust people to not misuse it or steal it.

I would love to have a tv that actually picks up more than three channels...and even those three channels are sometimes...scrambled.

Having 200 channels isn't all that great when half the time we watch Family Feud and the other half of the time we watch people arguing over who the baby daddy is. And when someone forgets to pay the bill and we get nothing but DIY for two weeks straight? Well, that's just extra fun!

I would settle for having the three channels if they all came in clear....half the time the screen goes to no signal etc.

Thank you so much for the great laugh! We're lucky if our cleaning crew might sweep the salesfloor and not eat the lunches in the breakroom. More often than not we do not have a cart attendant and if we do they are doing reshop.

When I quickly glanced at this thread I thought it said "things you wish your store's Backroom had." My answer was more tm's. As far as the break room goes air conditioning would be great.
Ck with your SFT, to help you on a/c issue. We had a coke machine too close to a sensor & that mess up the temp at our store. Once corrected, no issues.

This may not have everything to do with this thread but it's a funny story. One day a few weeks ago I was working an 8 hour shift and I was beat tired. For lunch I broughtt a microwaveable container of rice that you add seasoning and water to. I stuck it in the microwave and got distracted by something on my phone when I notice it starts to smell hot but I think it's bc I'm standing right by the toaster oven so I don't even look up. All of a sudden there is smoke everywhere. Needless to say, I forgot the water so the rice caught on fire in the microwave. The entire store smelled burnt. Probably the most stupid and embarrassing moments of my life.

A different table layout. Our breakroom has the square tables and they are all stuck together forming a, you guessed it, square. Which means if you go on break with more than a handful of people you are sitting either right next to or across from a bunch of people who are also trying to relax/eat/go on their phones. And if the entire flow team is going on break, forget about finding a seat. Walk back out of the breakroom and take your break later. Or in Target Cafe :)

We had a guy forget to add water to his oatmeal one day. The break room smelled worse and worse every time someone used that microwave until the HRTM was able to get in there one day and scrub it out. Poor guy was still living that down up until his last day with us a year later.

I wish ours had team members that cleaned up after themselves. If your hot pocket explodes in the microwave don't be a douche, clean it up. Take your stuff home at night.Don't buy a weeks worth of groceries and keep them in the fridge. We have a great break room, ping pong table, tv with cable and dvd player, WII and playstation. Also a foosball table, a hot/cold water dispenser, 3 microwaves, 2 refrigerators and a pizza oven. Our HR team keeps the place really clean and keep the team fed! They put butcher paper on half of the tables with crayons so we could doodle. But like I said there are some real pigs that work in our store and have no idea how to clean up after themselves.
