I’m new. Can I pick up extra shifts on Kronos if I’m trained in that area even if I don’t swap it for one of my shifts? This wasn’t covered at orientation. Do I have to worry about going over 40 hours or can I just request to pick it up and let HR worry about whether or not I’m ot or not?

Definitely pickout shifts that you are trained. Most ETLs will not give a second thought about who picked up a swapped shift. Reach out to your TL about how to pickup shifts on Kronos, or have them call you if needed.

You need to monitor your hours if you get close to 40 hours. If you go over 40, you will need approval or you will be called out on the Overtime Report. ETLs will chew you for going over 40 without approval.
