So I actually just read the Holiday pay sheet they have posted, we're only getting an extra $1/hour for thanksgiving, not time and a half!

From REDwire:
"Pay Incentives

All stores have an overnight shift differential in place that will automatically pay team members who satisfy the Overnight Shift Differential Rules.  The HR team is not required to key overnight shift differential into the system.  A team member must work between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. and work at least 3 hours in that timeframe to be eligible.

 Holiday Pay – Non-exempt team members will be paid time and a half for all hours worked on Thanksgiving (12:00 a.m. through 11:59:59 p.m.).  Holiday Shift Differential – Team members will receive an extra $1 per hour for all hours worked noon Thanksgiving Day through 8 a.m. Black Friday."

Nice, I hope I will be working on Thanksgiving night. I've already been working overnight for plano lately.

Check the Black Friday guide part one on workbench.

The extra $1 is on top of some of some of the other bonus pay.

So, say I work 5-1 on Thanksgiving. Does that mean I get paid $15/hour or does it mean I get paid $13.50/hour plus $1/hour -- so, $14.50/hour?

$14.50/hour. Plus a shift differential because you worked 3 hours between 10pm-8am. I'm not exactly sure how shift differentials work, but I remember seeing $5 on a check from it before. It seems like just an additional sum added to the end, whether you worked the minimum of 3 hours or the entire 10 hours.

That Redwire message says from noon Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday, so all hours worked would be $14.50. Unless that was a typo and they mean 12 midnight.

Time and a half all day Thursday. $1 extra from noon Thursday to 8am Friday. Shift differential from 10pm Thursday to 8am Friday (if you work the minimum 3 hours or more).

For example, if you make $10/hour you will make...
$15/hour between 12am and noon Thursday.
$16/hour between noon Thursday and 11:59PM Thursday.
$11/hour between 12am Friday and 8am Friday.
All of that, plus the shift differential as long as you worked at least 3 hours between 10PM Thursday and 8am Friday.
If you work after 8am Friday... sorry for your luck. Looks like normal pay for you.

No, I got it now. I just realized there's a holiday differential AND the usual overnight differential.

I figured you understood it, I just wanted to give a concrete example for everyone else. They're all going to be asking when the best time to work will be, which looks like starting anytime after noon Thursday and ending just after 1am so you get that differential.

Also, I think stores/districts are allowed to adjust it at their discretion, probably with DTL/HRBP approval. Your experience may vary.

Spot should totally take on after REI. Also, I wonder what time my store's going to open up... Our closest Walmart is 45 minutes away...

I just saw a commercial that Macy's is opening at 6pm on Thanksgiving, so that gives me hope that we'll open at 6.

Wouldn't it be $17/hr from 10pm-11:59pm on thanksgiving? Time and a half + thanksgiving shift dif + overnight shift dif? And I guess only if you work until at least 1am since the overnight shift dif is after minimum of 3 hours.

The overnight shift differential is going to be something like "You get $5 if you work at least 3 hours between these hours," not an additional amount per hour. It is one lump sum, not a rate. At least that's how I've seen it done in the past.

Ummm in my store it's per hour and only on the hours between 10pm and 8am. Just like it would be any other time of the year. It just has to be a minimum of three hours between those times.

We probably won't know what time we are opening till the 12 th when that schedule for thanksgiving week comes out. I can see it only leaking maybe 1 day earlier like on the 11 th.

Won't we find out next Monday when they release part 2 of the Black Friday planning guide?
