Archived Botched Market Rollout

aside from a troublesome PA that wont do his job were doing fine. our biggest obstacles are:
-too few people being scheduled for GM trailer and/or FDC trailer
-people NOT wanting to do PFresh
-not enough people total
-getting the research done

the STL and ETLs have stated market looks a lot better. the uboats are easy to use and get around, despite some guests complaining, but they likely complain at walmart theyll shop at target too ... SO!

Our store has not had success with the new rollout.

I knew it was going to be a problem when I saw the list of tm's. Three of which were fired within the first two weeks. One of them only works quick when they want and the other wants to go back to flow.

That's on top of one PA that seems to disappear half the time or is chit chatty with the CTL.

Meanwhile I'm over here trying to drive moral for whoever's left on the team by offering Starbucks.:oops:

Did the market roll out consist of any kind of fixturing? Or was it just the change of a name for people who are dedicated to market?

There is little to no direction on the rollout itself, most stores are just figuring it out. Basically, all the hours to pull, work, and backstock grocery left Trailer Unload and went to Market. They got the U-Boats on the line and sort the freight by aisle (no more bowling freight in grocery) and then push it out once the unload is done. You work it straight off the U-Boat.

Everything else your store chooses to do is to adapt to the new process. There are lots of other changes, but many stores are not adapting to them beyond the above. You are not supposed to zone at night anymore as an example, but most stores can't give up the idea of the store looking perfect at close (does the store looking perfect at 11PM drive sales?)

Was it called market operating model? we had an email requesting fixturing information needed for roll out in the spring.

The 4am guys aren't using whatever buzzword corp started using that I forgot. by the time they get off lunch to breakdown and push the pfresh truck they are tired and work slow then sometimes leave way before the push is done. They don't realize, or care, what happens after they leave, they don't know the pfresh opener has to do the work of 4 people and try to finish the push and backstock by himself before the closer comes in and finish whatever the morning team didn't do.

Apparently 1 of my ETLs didn't get this memo, when I come in to close and find out an entire pallet of produce never got broken down and the ETL tells me I should spend 1/4rth of my shift zoning consumables instead, I have to control myself from telling him to fuck off.

Target just does not have the cash to carry out that kind of expansion on a massive scale.
I wouldnt say they dont have the money for that...they certainly have the short term cash for it. As far as having the money long term in regards to it being successful.. that i would be unsure of

Figured this thread could use a bump since it's about to become relevant for most stores...

I was talking about physically expanding stores, which would mean purchasing real estate, tearing down whatever might be in the way, and adding on to the building...for every store. That would have to cost in the tens of billions of dollars.

If they want to focus on driving weekly/daily foot traffic about of people Target needs to expand on their selection. Outside of Back to school or Christmas I don't see a need for the seasonal section, mini-seasonal actually sells most of the time. All that floorspace should be dedicated to grocery to increase our selection and actually get people shopping at target for groceries, instead of just picking up a couple things. The only trick would be where to put all the BTS and TrimATree stuff when the time comes.

Oh, yeah. Might even be more than that

For store that do not currently follow the new end to end practice, which work center do you schedule your pfresh truck? Unload or consumables?

We haven't rolled out any of the new processes the pfresh team is scheduled under unload.

at my store they always are under inventory ... i never understood this, but its been that way for 2 years now

My district isn't rolling out until ~May. Do you end up getting more information than the general rollout packet/training packet/schedule tips? I feel like there could be more information, but knowing Target this will be my store's experience:

nope and 1 day of batch training followed by TL and ETLs who dont understand why the TMs dont understand their role.

The scheduling aspect is interesting. Hope the TL writing it actually writes it effectively. I don't think I saw how many TM were needed.

Ours is rolling out may 1st that's six weeks and the TMs on flow know nothing. Lol so many of them can only work overnight that means a lot will be quitting even good TMs
Come on let them know now give them six weeks to decide if they can make the adjustment to 6am to 2:30 pm.
This will be interesting
