Archived Can you stay later?

There's a HUGE pay gap between TM to ETL/Sr. TL and what a person getting paid $60,000 a year expects a guy who makes starting pay after two years of work is probably starkly different in the perspective of the TM.
This bothers me the most.

They think we should work as hard as they do when we make a lot less. Sure, if I made as much as them (with bonuses) I'd work my ass off too. If they really want us to do more they should give us bonuses when the store does well and make sure that the TMs that have been there longer are making more than the new ones coming in the door.

Seeing some kid make the same as me while doing half of the work doesn't motivate me. I make as much as some people who have been at my store for 10 years! I've only been there for 4! That's not right. This is the very definition of a dead end job lol

But don't stay next time. Today I sashayed away from a flat with ten repacks on it without telling a soul. Just saw it, said "NOPE" then bounced! I worked my scheduled amount of hours. So I saved them from having to pay me overtime! See, I'm a team player!

Is it my fault DC sends us an insane amount of repacks? We've had double after double and it's turned me into the store's biggest asshole. People actively avoid me now and I couldn't be happier :D

I used to stay all the time when I first started at Target, but my last year I stopped doing it. The reason why I stopped was simply because it was taken for granted and not appreciated in the slightest by management.

Target totally ignores the human element of business, and as a result it’s no wonder why morale is so low.

i take my time leaving anyway.... racking up those minutes lmao, so anytime they ask me to stay i generally do unless i have a prior commitment. gotta get that money.

Me to myself: Goddamn my feet hurt, think I’ll dip out at my scheduled time today
ETL-log: HEY CTT WANNA STAY 10 HOURS AND GET THAT SCHMONEY??!!! :—DDD

Also me: Goddamn I could use some extra schmoney, think I’ll ask to stay later today
ETL-log: HEY CTT WANNA GET THE FUCK OUT EARLY TODAY BECAUSE WE’RE 9000 HOURS OVERSPENT??!! :—DD

:^)

I think people who prefer not to stay later are college students or are people that still live with their parents, and the extra little money they make isn’t as important. I don’t mean that in a rude way, I’m in the same situation and I’m the same way, lol. But if I were living on my own and had my own bills to pay, I’d definitely take all the hours I could get.

Along with all the other changes there has been a huge change in our culture. Leaders used to be all about being fast, fun and friendly. They were polite and gave recognition to team members. These days I never hear please or thank you and that's a shame. It makes me sad to read some of the attitudes expressed here.

Surely it was. The LOD was asking for a favor, not lending one. They're lucky opalitewaves stuck around and got half the flat done -- they could have left at their scheduled time and nothing would have gotten done instead.

Modernization cranked turnover up to 11. Leadership can't keep blaming TMs when there's a revolving door. Eventually, the buck stops with them. If ETLs and even STLs can't produce results, they'll be out of a job soon enough. Asking people to stay late, and then attaching strings like getting an arbitrary amount of work done is doing more harm than good. They're lucky TMs are willing to stay at all given the nonsense they have to deal with.
Not an excuse to give a nasty attitude to the TM and not even be polite or thank them, even if it's a fake thank you. Yet they only expect TM to come in with a smile and be friendly. Fast fun and friendly are long gone. That's why I don't stay. When I don't feel wanted, I'm not going to stay.

Yes and no. My sanity is more important than 1 or 2 hours of OT plus burning up all my money in rush hour traffic that I just earned staying extra to be around assholes.

Meanwhile, ETLs all over are losing both hair and sleep because of the new unrealistic expectations with the new logistics process.
Let it be. They get those dang bucks. I ain't stressin' for shit ;)

Agree. 100% same here. Fuck them. My happiness is more important than the extra bucks that Uncle Sammy will take away in taxes.

ETLs in my store wouldn't have said you were doing them a favor as you were being paid to stay later.......

I feel you man I’ve been told to stay later and they always give me some ridiculous task so when I stay later I just stay until my allotted time and even if the task is not completed I asked them to have another team member challenge it

Lets be a socialist state where everyone gets paid the same. Some of these comments about ETLs getting paid more are ridiculous. Is this what you guys do? Look in to other people’s pockets? Mind your own business, go out there and earn more if you want, the only person holding you back is you!! Not the ETL.

I always don’t like staying but if they ask I would accept it then I tell them~
ARE YOU GUYS REALLY OKAY WITH IT?

When I was a Micky Dee's mgr I was always asking people to stay longer. Of course, I would always offer/bribe them with a free meal.

I never even really got a thank you for staying late @ Spot. LIke was mentioned earlier, they act like the extra money is bribe enough.

At least gimme something from SB!!!

Good lord I thought we’re the only ones getting massive amounts of repacks! my store is backed up with shitload amount or repacks in less than a week.
