I just promoted to TL and my first day as TL was April 6. I have not received my review yet so I don't know what my merit raise is. But my HR told me that I probably will not be receiving my merit review at all, I would just receive only the raise from the promotion. But he still doesn't know, he needs to contact payroll services. Is this true? Or will I still receieve the merit raise?
 
There's a guy in my store in a similar situation. He was just promoted to a Team Lead last month. I guess he was told that he would get a raise based on his previous wage, not his new TL wage.
 
So you accepted a promotion without knowing what you will be making? You should get your raise AND a pay increase to compensate you for your new/additional responsibilities. Don't know if Spot does it that way, but that's how other employers would.
 
So it sounds like your merit raise was based on your previous rate of pay, due to the fact that you promoted AFTER your review was already written. In that event, you effectively don't get a merit raise because it was based on your old rate, and your new rate as a TL came after. Yeah, it's really shitty. Welcome to great things ahead!
 
i know when they had the specialist positions you would get a dollar more but towards the end it was like up to a dollar then the former ceo decided to ax all those positions. i know when i left shoes ( i needed to i had no support from my etl or my tls and i wanted out before spot had me out) my etl was going to have me push the shoes off the truck in the am because she was having issues with the flow and the shoe push she told me dont worry you wont loose your pay so then i go and see hr to change my position and what does hr do tells me oh im sorry but we have to take your dollar away i had a whole list of reasons why i should keep it including the fact i would close once a week and be acting tl for softlines he said i have to get back to you and in the end i had to give up 50 cents because of some hey if everyone left there specialist postions or tl postitions we would have to give them the same rate of pay
 
I got promotion during review time. I got regular increase and they also did a retro back a few months for the position because I was doing the job for that long.
