Might be the wrong sub-forum for this, but I see a lot of other queries about positions, so.... Mods can move the thread if it's in the wrong spot! :O

But apparently a 'Human Resources team member' position has opened up at my store. Since my hours are pretty dead, and HR is a seemingly good thing to get in to - Though it requires at least a year's experience in any other place, alas - I'm considering going for it. I do have office experience in county work, so I'm not exactly unfamiliar with such things, but is there any silly necessities attached to the position, as with any other worthwhile and presumably well-paying position at Target? What could I potentially expect, if I were considered for the position?

Expect TMs to make various unreasonable demands of you for things they could do themselves if they bothered to learn.
You will be the guardian of EVERYONE'S personal info so make sure to never violate that trust.
Multi-tasking will never be truer than at spot.
Keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer.

Smile. I need the hours. Can I take care of the paperwork for etl-hr for you?
Always apply & go for it. Cash office is the 2nd option too.

You'll be handling applications through JAS; setting up interviews (1st are now phone interviews w/TLs, 2nd are in person with an ETL); entering schedules for the various depts (including edits to correct errors) to name a few.

I was an HRTM at a lower volume store...there were 40 hours allocated for HR. We had an ETL HR, me, and maybe someone else if we got really busy. You pretty much do everything. There's the HR weekly routine document you can get off workbench. You can see what might be expected of you.

It worked out great for me though. The HR experience in combination with my college degree got me a position in the healthcare field, and then when I moved to a different area of the state I was able to land an exempt position as an HR Specialist which doesn't pay great but it's way better than spot. You can use it as a springboard to get other HR jobs...it looks good on a resume.

This was pretty much the plan, hah - Devour what I potentially could from the position (if I could get it) and then roll out of Target ASAP into something more lucrative - Or at least more tolerable, less slap-dash in shifts, and with actual benefits.

Thanks folks, guess I'll be pestering the HR ETL about the opening.
