Lowest I had for hours this season was a 14 hour week, which i picked up 6 hours on a cashier call out anyways. I've been averagine 28-33 hours. I've got 34.5 on this new schedule. I'm only working hardlines shifts aswell, so I must be doing something right if I'm getting this many hours. I don't know if any of the other HLTM's are getting this many.
Lowest I've ever been was 16 hours, and that was the week I started. Everytime after that has been at least 20. Haven't dipped down below 30 hours in over a year and a half though. But I'm extremely lucky when it comes to hours.

Cross-training takes.... payroll though
Not necessarily.. I wanted to learn softllines and how I learned was I took a shift from a softllines tm who didn't want to work a specific date and another softllines tm showed me the ropes. The only workcenters that might actually take payroll for training is isolated workcenters, such as Truck drivers, TSC, PMT, or a leadership position.

Don't forget Starbucks.

I would agree cashier, softlines, hardliners can be picked up by pretty much anyone.

At my store HR/leadership won't approve your swap shift for certain workcenters if you aren't already cross trained.

Just found out recently that tms from certain workcenters need special approval from HR for any time off? Is this standard practice?

LOL I am pretty sure not but this might be asants. Typically your ETL approves time off and your HR can't do anything about that.

I could see there being a complicated process for the PMT seeing how he's the only one at his position but I don't see why a regular TM couldn't just request time off.

My friend is a price accuracy tm. She wanted a few days off for religious purposes and it had to be specially approved by HR, because our other pricing tm wanted time off around the same time. They had to 1) approve their days off and then 2) make sure they didn't coincide because only one can be off at a time.

Only three? That is a great night for my store who usually closes with one hardlines an a TL..
We're a pretty high volume store, we usually need at least 5 closing TMs. I can see it being different at other stores.

No it's not. You can't really speak for ALL stores.
Very few stores company wide are probably making sales or beating them enough to have flex hours to find 2 our schedules. Are some sitting cushy? Maybe. But asants in this case would be an outlier, not the norm.

My store is the only one making it in our district. Its never been this bad, even after the great security breach.

Whether the hour cut is noticeable is debatable. First fiscal month we often have people with pine or two days a week. 8-15 hrs a week for people who don't need the hours, tls taking vacation so the workcenter can have hours for regular tms. At this point you haven't seen some people in weeks because they don't work as often, you might not notice they have no shifts without checking the schedule.

For us the week of Easter is usually the beginning of the swing back to normal hours. Its late this year which might bump it quicker for the gap between Easter and end of school for the year.

AA+ volume.. And they cut us that badly..

I think I know what store you are at now. Can't believe you guys are getting cut... you were one of the few stores that didn't drop org charts.

We seem to be in a bind because we dropped from 5 to 4 yet still have the same TL headcount until we get some attrition.

There are a couple choices in my area that fit AA volumes, I am in one of them..

That would make some sense. If your whole price accuracy team took vacation at the same time the store would be hurting.

At my store they always encourage people in the same department to stagger vacations when they can. If people cant, we have to deal but we encourage it

See, that is a more accurate statement. I feel like people who are still getting hours and not seeing cuts don't want to post and come off as bragging. But it really bothers me when people try to speak for ALL stores when all they know is what's going on at theirs and what they see others post on here.

My store is definitely not smashing sales goals or flexing hundreds of hours up, but we are comping slightly higher most weeks and use less hours than allocated due to not having a ton of TMs in the first place.

I wish I was getting less hours. 🙁 They keep scheduling me for more than I can handle and when I ask for less, I still get more.

Our store seems to be saving a lot in payroll just because we've been getting tons of callouts lately. Nice weather? 10 callouts. Day after payday? 8 callouts.

As it gets closer to Easter I am sure hours will get slightly better but will then drop again.

If you are not being scheduled any hours and are a regular TM or even TL, then file for unemployment. This is state specific and some states do permit even if reduced amount of hours. Check your state before you claim! If enough people did this in several states, this whole thing of calling people at the last minute to come in or not come in (aka the robo calling crap) would stop. Target would ensure hours were given more accurately and forecasted better. However, make sure you have NO corrective actions against you or only 1 from a long, long time ago. Also, ensure you log your start and stop times in a personal journal, signing and dating by each entry. Going back to the original post on this thread, if I was scheduled no hours, I was a regular TM and my family or I needed money, I would put family/myself above some stupid schedule and would file a claim.

Underemployment is the lack of hours you are regularly scheduled. We used to use it between contacts at another job I did. No way does it hurt the company, as the hr for that one would actually walk people through the process...

All of Jan-Feb. I was getting like 13 hours in cafe and if I was lucky maybe picking up 1-2 4 hour cashier shifts. This past week I worked 36 hours between cafe and our new SCO. The next 2 weeks I am scheduled 25 hours in cafe with no cashier shifts but plan to pick up shifts so I am VERY happy that my hours are starting to pick up since we are getting busier/with the store management transitioning/seems like a lot of people dont wanna work.

a lot of people dont wanna work.

THIS. I opened both Sat and Sun and sooo many call outs. Picked up two extra hours (coulda been more if I wanted) each day, in work centers other than my own. Be willing to extend and pick up shifts. People all over the store know I am willing to pick up hours and am global. Cross train, cross train, cross train.
