Archived Picking up shift and scheduled outside of availability

I am relatively new, and I haven't picked up a shift yet. So, a coworker asked me to pick up two of their shifts. I know to sign my name in the book next to theirs, but then what do I do?

Also, I was scheduled for a shift way outside of my availability, it starts when I get out of school (as in high school). That is my only shift I am scheduled for that week (why?), so will they fix that shift or will I just not get a shift that week?

Monitor the swap board (or in the Kronos app, I think schedule changes will show up in there now?) to make sure that HR signs off on the swap. If they do, the shift is now yours. until they sign off, the shift is still the other TM's responsibility, but I would suggest asking HR just in case they hadn't gotten to it or something like that.

As for the second question, talk to HR.

Go talk to your schedule writer about your schedule. Let them know now that you were scheduled outside your availability. Also if you're looking to pick up more shifts, bring that up in the same conversation.
