This is assuming that it's not often that a receiver is not a TL.

When it comes to handling the multitude of responsibilities that a receiver has throughout every week, can you really be expected to complete everything with minimum support?

Is it up to the receiver to manage his or her surroundings to complete whatever is being asked of them?

I get a chance to watch someone go through the stresses of working the receiving area for Target, and I think I see a solution for them.

Any comments would probably help.

Wait, your receiver is also a TL? I can't see how any TL would be able to do that AND support their team (maybe a BRTL at a ULV store).

Our receiver is NOT a TL, but the CTL, BRTL, and ETL-LOG can cover for a day or two if needed.

Yes you are expected to get all tasks completed, no you don't get support. The receiver is just another TM, the best thing you can do is develop a strong and consistent routine, a good relationship with the br and flow TL and be firm but friendly with the vendors. For me it comes down to pretty much always expecting the worst and realizing that every day my job is to make order out of chaos. Plus you can always expect Mondays to suck.

What?? Are you crazy!?!? Not in my location! The BRTL and ETL-LOG know nothing about what the receiver does. I should know, because they have both told me. (I = receiver) Sadly we don't have a CTL.

Yes my ETL Log is clueless too...but the br tl and flow tl can cover for a few and i have one guy from flow who is trained to cover me on the rare vacation or days off I request

Sadly I am what used to be known as a specialist. One of the Hr clerical team is trained enough to at least check vendors in, if I go on vacation.

Worst part of the position, in my case, is knowing so much about how other teams are supposed to do things, because the TLs don't care.

I can't believe the ETL Log doesn't understand the receiving job.
At my store they were one of the other people who covered breaks and handled the job if the Receiving TM was out sick.
