MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

From what I can see the goal is to dramatically expand storage (department 2) and shrink utility (D85) to not only drive where the sales are but to expand capacities to have less bulk storage in the backroom.

Anyone else notice they removed some of the pegs off the aircare aisle and replaced them with shelves? Like they want all the car air fresheners on the shelf now instead of being on pegs like they were… why…

Most of the ones on pegs come in the same shelf ready packaging as the shelves. I always found it strange they were on pegs to begin with.

Honestly the pog needs pushers.

I see the back to school map is available… very fun with the back wall just being backpacks and the folders are down an aisle again, feels like previous years when they did that.

but when I saw dump bins I went “oh no” because of how they always end up becoming a jumbled mess

Does anyone know the part number for the label
Strip holder for the front end small coolers? Or is this a vendor product that we need to contact the cooler company for?

Also, does anyone have the strip # for the freezer shelves? The 1ft shelves used for products like ravioli and pizza

The label holders I think you are looking for are PR001. You can check the Pog listing for the number.

What does everyone do with their clearance during a transition? Let's take the chem transition for example. All endcaps have new salesplans(which MUST be set, no if ands or buts), adjacent departments have new salesplans, district doesn't want it on towers. So where does one go with clearance and discontinued items?

They've done a better job at shifting the salesplanners for major sets to the week after. So in this example, Paper/Chem sets this week and the salesplanners set next week. So you would use the back endcaps first and set SPLs as they sell down.

I tend to tell the leadership/dayside team that I could not find a home for the clearance and continue setting 🤷‍♂. Especially with them wanting us always weeks ahead. We basically finished chems before the labels came in, and now are basically done with frozen (man that was annoying and pointless...) but of course ran out of shelves and target automatically sent the wrong style freezer shelves for our coolers! (thanks for that!)

I think this week is SPLNs before we move into furniture.

Also I hope you guys have brand new shelves in the back for furniture with the new 'metal lip' they are sending (reminds me of the one from babies so long ago), since the page for the transition says make sure shelves aren't bent lol.

I wonder how many more Bullseye sets they have already gotten into the US. I wonder if Target would just bite the bullet on importing that stuff since it's so high margin.

They’re asking for all the salvage this set to be shipped back ok separate pallets. Maybe they’re planning to reuse it haha.

You are setting without new label strips?

We have a back end cap between Personal Care and Paper that's been clearance for forever at my store. Chems, OTC, Personal Care, and Paper all use it and it's almost always pretty full. Guests know to check it out.
I have a back end cap in OTC that never has a sales planner for it, so I use it for NOP and weird stuff that gets sent to my store accidentally but doesn't have a $0.00 price like it sometimes does when that happens. This last time with OTC and Pers Care resets, I had so much clearance that I used both of those end caps plus one where we never got the ISM (all product had home locations and it was a back end cap, so not a huge disaster) plus maybe 4 side caps.
Recently, there was a tower of clearance paper towel rolls.
Beauty often uses a back end cap plus they have a weird spot in the blow dryer POG that works for clearance.
So I guess it's partly ASANTS and partly being creative with the space we have.

That would be the most logical choice but the salesplans are already set. Things like this must be what those hour long planning meetings are about 🤣 And some of the clearance is only 15% so I know it wouldn't be gone next week when the salesplans would normally set and all salesplans at my store MUUUUst be set no if, ands, or buts.
