Interesting that that is best practice. My store has the opening guest advocate do that while they run SCO and do DU. My store has a fairly active DU period for the first hour we're open along with a good push of guests for the first 30 minutes so doing break schedule makes things a bit harried for the poor opener.
No doubt! It’s in the book, though.

Today I finally had time to zone and audit one aisle in my department that has been sparsely filled. Yeah, whomever set the pog back in December never tied it. So all that product has been languishing in the back for 6 months. I tied it and requested a batch, so I know what I'll be pulling with my autofills on Monday.
It probably got untied later than dec. like when someone set an endcap or sidecap and tied it to the aisle by accident.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but I really find it hard to believe an aiske could remain untied for 6 months. At my store, we have aisles that come untied for no apparent reason.
When I took over Plano, there had been POGs that had not been set for longer than that. We legit had empty aisles. And the pogss that had been set in the wrong departments.

I'm sure it's possible, but it was also one of those half aisles in decorative home. And nobody gave that area the time of day until I got assigned to it. The VMG hated working in hardlines so it was a mess. I also removed a bookcase that we stopped selling last year but was left on display for some reason. When I told my ETL about the pog he didn't seem surprised either.
That sounds about right. Just popping in to say hi yall see the carnage and how everyone dealt with it. You guys made Twitter #1 trends. (#targetdown and #targetapocalypse2019)

Just learned today...2 TMs are retiring, 3 have quit, and this is just people I know from the list. .....The latter includes the actual store manager, (SD? I don't remember the new terms), who was apparently so scarred by this experience that she left retail altogether.......
FYI when management-level employees are hired at Target, they usually are obligated to sign a non-compete agreement as a condition of hire. This means an STL or ETL who quits can't work for a retail competitor anywhere in the country for a certain period of time - perhaps 2 years. So that's why she "left retail altogether", she will need to find a similar job in a non-retail business. It is a huge PIA to be under the ball-and-chain of a noncompete. Hourly target employees are usually not forced to sign noncompetes. One bright spot is that California state law does not allow noncompetes to be enforced in that state.

the best practice is only in regards to writing the break schedule, not actually sending cashiers on breaks

I find myself with some downtime this evening. I circled through the back to check what vehicles were still back there and then set about auditing some problematic sections for OPU that were clean. Apparently, I was not supposed to do that as SDs got an email today. Audits are suspended companywide because DBOs are auditing before they come clean and causing problems. Only SDs and AP are supposed to audit until corporate figures out what to do about it.

I hope corporate figures it out, quickly.

What's funny is every former instocks TM warned them this is what would happen but all that mattered that week was inflating flex metrics. Its hilarious how consistently the higher ups' cheats and shortcuts to boost focus metrics always end up fucking up other areas of the stores and they never, ever learn from it.

Me too, for real. Everyday, I ask, "Can I audit yet?" Not sure how I can take care of my workcenter properly without auditing. It's not like DBOs doing bad audits was a problem at my store. Our problem was that DBOs don't have the hours to get all their other stuff done so audits don't get done at all, which leaves flex needing to fill in that gap.

Kind-a like BR tm's (and any intelligent person that knows how a store works) knew that BRLA would tank once BR went away.

Huh.

Or pricing would fall behind once PR change team went away.

Unless it’s a new thing, they didn’t ask me to sign anything of the sort when I was an etl.

Most etls leave to work for Kohls if they stay in retail.

DBOs are doing bad audits its fken true they're clueless about the process most of my store tms they only knew how to push stuff in the truck and their TLs would either bring them the autofills or tell them its in the backroom with the green pull clip.
I had to audit the on hands count up many times due to it being in the back actually located and some even fken was pulled as an autofill.

DBO's (and most tm's) have been given little to no explanation of how the processes work and how they work together. I can't tell you how many tm's do not know the difference between EXF and Audit; SFQ and capacity and continually audit without adjusting capacity first (which should have been done when they set the POG). All of my areas have positive comps and when asked how I do that, I just smile and tell them that I know how to fill the shelves and would be glad to help them. Ain't nobody got time for that, though. Not being able to audit is going to kill me. We have a temporary SD and I'm pretty sure that there isn't a clue about the processes there.

Most of our ETLs and SDs that have quit didn't even get to work out their 2 week notice because they went to Amazon, or another big retailer, and got escorted out the minute that was found out.
