Employees at the San Luis Obispo (CA) Target evacuated customers Friday afternoon after they were unable to turn off a porn audio clip that was playing throughout the store.

Shortly after 11 a.m., someone managed to overrun the store’s PA system which generally plays popular music. While staffers worked to turn off the PA system, the store was temporary evacuated.

Staffers also called San Luis Obispo police. The incident is under investigation.

I can't imagine this being something that happens after the store is open though, unless it's a closed system. All of the red phones can go on the overhead, right? There's not much to keep this from happening in other stores.

Every once in a while my leaders play a little music before open...

This just stinks of bulllshit. I call bulllshit because a Target store doesn't play music over the intercom and a Target store wouldn't be evacuated because of guests hearing sexual moans. There are only two intercom mics at the store I work at. Most humans don't have the balls to do something like that. It's just suspicious to me.

Yes. The instructions for the 2280 system on Workbench give how to perform overhead paging and just say "Note: Overhead paging should not be performed on red Speed of Service phones."

A cashier, with the proper knowledge, could overhead page from their lane unless your lanes don't have phones.

FYI some stores are actually piloting music on the overheads. Not sure if this was one of those stores or not.

I was futzing around with Workbench and somehow I got a list of every pilot happening now. If I clicked on any it would prompt me to log in which just directed me to the Workbench main page. Most of these aren't really anything extravagant or anything we didn't know before.

Yeah, at my store it's just numbers # I think. Really believable a disgruntled employee or somebody in the know did this.

This reminds me...a couple weeks ago, we had a girl filling in as operator who had never been in that position before. From the story I got, somebody called the store and asked for a specific extension --they didnt ask for a specific department, rather, they told her what extension to connect them to -- and she followed their instructions. Right after, a country music song with a shit ton of cuss words started playing over the intercom and nobody knew how to stop it (god I wish I was there for this shit...of course it was on my day off). Eventually, it did stop, but nobody knows how this happened. Obviously whoever called and asked to be connected to whatever extension was in on it, but I really want to know how exactly they were able to do this.

There was a Law and Order SVU episode where someone in an electronics store "hacked" the TVs on the wall so he could show his junk. It was pretty funny. I think I'm the only person who laughs watching Law and Order...

I won't post a link to this, since it's basically porn, but someone made a video compilation of the weirdest stuff ever said in porn videos. It's pretty hilarious and/or fucked up. For those interested, just google, "weird stuff said in porn." It's the first link.

I hate when light duty is out in the open.

It's safe for work, I promise.

Red phone paging was disabled a few years back after that incident at WalMart where someone overheaded "Will all the black people leave the store?" Had to be three years ago I think.

There's videos on YouTube of people putting tapes or CDs of someone screaming curse words in displays at Target/other stores.
