Target is trying to elevate the employee profile and will eliminate some of the smaller positions in order to capitalize on the experience that us externally hired new VML's are going to be bringing to the table.

Good luck doing the work of all of those "smaller" positions. Like sky said before, cosmetics takes HOURS UPON HOURS just by itself, and if you eliminate the small positions that make up yours, you'll be getting rid of all of the brand TMs that handle those heavy workload areas.

I wouldn't be so negative about the position, it puts us down.

If I were you, I wouldn't be so negative about the abilities and usefulness of the TMs who actually have experience and do the work. It puts us down...which in turn will lead to your position's fall.

Or, maybe Target is trying to elevate the employee profile and will eliminate some of the smaller positions in order to capitalize on the experience that us externally hired new VML's are going to be bringing to the table. It isn't a "pet project" It is an investment in upscaling the experience that Target guest have while shopping.
Just like Target pairs with some of the best designers in the industry to do the Collaborative capsule collections, they want that type of employee in house to reflect the same sense of style. I wouldn't be so negative about the position, it puts us down.

That is fine, We'll do the work, just PLEASE make sure we are god damn good looking doing it.

I am hoping for your sake you are not as arrogant as you are coming across.

It's not maturity. After so many years in store we don't hear you when you say associate or manager or customer. If you repeat yourself we might, but for the sake of speed we are keyed to tune into certain vocab words. "Team______?" Whether "where can I find something" "who is covering an area" or "can someone meet a guest here".

You are taking the response out of context. Helping someone when they make a mistake, ie: calling them an associate vs team member, is maturity. Snapping at someone and trying to infer an insult (as if working at Walmart was below Target) is not mature. That is what I was clearly referring to.

Ignoring someone, not assisting or insulting is not a sign of maturity nor is it a sign that a person buys into team culture. Just like I mentioned earlier, this is just the internet. People can take responses out of context no matter how well it is dictated. Learning company culture is important anywhere, it isn't unique to Target. However, it is much more conducive to the team to welcome a new hire with open arms and realizing missteps will be made, versus an attitude of eyerolls and misdirected frustrations. That type of behavior doesn't help anyone especially if it comes from their leaders. :)

Yes, many countries have no patience for people trying to learn their ways (ahem: we live in one of them), but people still would be embarrassed to be caught on camera acting that way to somebody who meant no ill intent.

oh, like the jewelry brand tm? or whittling down TL positions in most stores, and combing ETL positions - we used to have 3 salesfloor ETL's + a Guest Experience ETL + Logistics + HR

Target is about the bottom line - money ie. profit. The corp has already eliminated MANY smaller positions - which are basically anything under a DTL position.

:head tilt:

But, Please tell us more.....

I had a bunch of TM's come in this morning and completely rearrange practically the entire AA section that I did, it was a waste of their time as I could have unloaded and merchandised the area myself, that is
What is the issue with you people, you are the one's putting ME down. This is lame. I'm responding to YOUR negative comments. I'm not arrogant. I don't even get how you would view that statement as arrogant. Its all about improving the company, is there something wrong with improving and bettering a company? Makes no sense.

Last three visits were red, red, and yellow. Bwahaha.

Steritech leaves me in awe. When I first started in cosmetics, I wasn't told about cabinet space beneath the shelves that were for housing extra sample or trial sizes not related to the concierge, and then they visited, and they ripped into me for dust inside those cabinets, and I was literally like, "We have cabinets?"

They still make fun of me for it...But it's clean now!

I don't know, I have never worked with Target before. Just trying to be excited and positive about the job and bring my best to the company.

I've had a ctl the whole time. You can have ours, I'll even pay to ship her to you. She thinks she can do it, and has been due to lack of tms. Guess who has a red process now and empty shelves from poor ordering?

As far as the same as languages in other places. Nope. Many foreign countries are notorious for having no patience for Americans struggling to use the local dialect.

What I meant was, they need to bring back market TL and make it a PA (us). But I feel if anything it will be a "Wellness TL" similar to VML

If they rearranged it, it's because they were putting it back to plano, they way Target expects it to be done.

And the reason people are insinuating that you're arrogant is because you're literally saying things like "people have no taste" and "I have a degree so I should be paid more" and "my position is going to eliminate hundreds of jobs and I'm ok with that because teehee I have a fancy expensive sheet of paper."

Notice how we all loved skylad. That's because they acknowledged that they are no better than us, and that they have learned a lot from their team and doing the job. All of your posts are just you basically saying you're better. How could we find it arrogant? How do you not? How do you not read a statement saying that your job is going to be eliminated so one person can pretend to be able to do the job of 10?

Would you consider the back room team members who bust their butts "smaller positions"? Without them you will not be getting your merchandise to rework your area. When you do get those pulls won't be pretty. Without the "smaller position" of cashier, the products won't sell. Your superiority complex is going to choke you when you have to remerchandise areas because the "smaller position" of the flow team is going to screw you royally with overstocking once they find out how you look down on them. Without the "smaller position" of sales floor, good luck getting help working your pulls. You have done a fine job putting some hardworking, dedicated team members down. You need a reality check about what TEAM WORK is all about.

I want to take mine to lunch and pick her brain. She's super amazing.

I didn't realize we had those either, until we were zoning and I noticed an awkward white empty space in one aisle...

I'd love to, I'll even have your pants lined with a nice surprise plaid print or something like that.

Don't feel personally attacked,

Green all year! WOOOOOOOOOOOO Now we can fail in February when we know he will be here, but are all PTSD'd out over the Great Turkey War/Black Friday 2015

It was like a miracle when I found them. I have so much space now! Nothing to put in them except cleaning supplies, but theoretically, so much space.

'Smaller positions'? LOL
You really are a noob to Target.
The previous CEO - Gregg Steinhaffel - during his five year tenure had a program he called "Achieving Excellence".
Every year AE would be a in-house shake-up: specialist positions were eliminated first, team lead positions were eliminated & teams combined, ETL positions were trimmed (lo vol stores may have ONE ETL for the entire salesfloor).
Over a five year period nearly half of store staffing has been eliminated.
Payroll has been cut to the bone & we're now told that it's the 'new normal'.
There is little left to eliminate for a position that is sucking hours & payroll all for an experiment.
And you're rolling into Q4.
Retail in Q4 ain't for sissies.

This is getting pointless, you all seem really defensive, all I'm saying is that my posts have been responding to people saying my position won't last and that VML's make to much, I had counter arguments and you disagree so lets leave at that. Who knows I might even work in your store.

Ll bean makes some great ones...;-) I don't think we sell lined pants even in men's, do we? My dad loves the ones with polar fleece lining.

My first visit as a PA (I was borderline shaking in me boots).. How long does it take for the Sanitizer to take effect?

I reply 60 seconds...

He replies, are you sure? is it 60 seconds or a minute?

Awkward 8 second pause as my entire Target life flashed before my eyes....

Enter... Roarous Laughter....

- My Dream is to work for Steritech and Audit my own Store.

Well I'm interested to see what the new CEO's plans are going to be.

Well, your posts right off the bat were "I have a degree, pay me more" and "Y'all don't have taste." The reason we got defensive is because of your responses. You're playing a victim, when it's clear that you're not. People have tried to explain things to you and you just go, "Oh, well...but what about this?"

And you do NOT work at my store. My VMTL is a ditzy mess, but she doesn't act like this.

Here you go. This, right here ^ is offensive.
Its offensive if you are defensive. Look I don't know any of you so I can't speak to who you are, I'm just reading through these comments and giving my opinion. Sorry if you find my opinions offensive.
