Gsas are really supposed to he mostly cash office team members who can cover breaks and a few shifts here and there to help balance rotations! I get annoyed with the Gsa same as gstl crap cuz if that is the case ur gstl isn't performing well!

Not a single one of our GSAs does cash office. There is only one person (save for some overlap in the middle of the day) watching the front end. That shift falls to either the GSTL (for 5 shifts a week) and the GSAs (the other 11 shifts a week).* Our GSTL rocks. But from a lowly TM's place, there is no difference except that the GSTL only does those shifts while the others get shifts in other parts of the store to get their hours. Welcome to ULV.

*The SrGSTL may take one of these shifts a week, but generally no more than that.

I think it's absolutely insane that GSTL's and GSA's have essentially the same workload. When I was a cashier, I had no clue who was who, because they all did EXACTLY THE SAME THING. I'm a PA and it boggles the mind that our GSA's get paid the same amount as I do. How do these people agree to it? It's one of the hardest jobs in the store, IMHO, but it doesn't get treated like one. GSA's put up with too much crap from guests to warrant a lower pay.

Aren't GSA's a lower pay grade than PA's? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they make the same as logistics/ plano team members.

I only put up with it for so long because I loved my job.

I told management straight to their faces that the GSA position is a joke. They didn't like that, ha!

I also told them that I should be able to get my hours doing Cash Office, guest service, AND Gstl/GSA, but they said I need at least 50% of my hours in GSTL/GSA no matter what. Lol. I think my store just likes making **** up, and in this case they can justify using GSA's as a gstl on the cheap.

Oh well, even though my hours are crap now, I am still getting 40 hours a week by picking up in other work centers, or covering call-ins.. I am definitely not working 50% in gstl/gsa anymore, so they can suck it! haha.

This is my point... a majority of stores are not following best practice, which specifically states that GSAs should be owning the Cash Office! Ideally, you would have two GSTLs who should be able to take almost all the opening GSTL shifts during the week! If a GSA opens, they should be doing Cash Office! Then some of your GSAs should be doing some closing shifts to balance out when the GSTL isn't there, and then a weekend rotation! It is ok to have someone who isn't a GSA trained on Cash Office to cover some days, but most of the time it should be a GSA performing these duties... if not you are getting points docked on group assessments for that one!

A bit off topic I know guys, but just wondering how one finds the sharepoint area the AE discussion materials being discussed are on? Jw Thanks much in advance too!

Usually the OnePlan.Archive is a good place to start.

If the IS rumor comes true, I'm absolutely floored. This company has absolutely gutted AP from just 5 years ago. Every store used to have a minimum of 40 TPS hours and there were very few stores that didn't have an APS. Now we've gotten to the point where the APL is the only person at some stores and no IS support? What the hell do they think a 40hr APL is gonna do, particularly in light of so many STLs re-purposing their APLs for salesfloor and TLOD shifts? Damn Target, you've set yourself behind even Walmart in terms of loss prevention... congrats, you've beaten them to the bottom in one area...

Sounds like the AP pyramid is being gutted like the stores pyramid over the past few years, reduction in hours, killing specialists off, etc.

I honestly believe the cuts to AP were in response to guest demand.

Guests really don't give a da** if someone steals from a retailer, but they have freak outs about something as simple as a security guard standing at the door as they leave.

Do a search on best buy/Wal-Mart receipt checks at the front doors..... You'll find tons of pages out there dedicated to "resisting" just this practice. Hell, there are even special interest groups against receipt checks that get thousands of dollars in donations.

The fact is, most consumers going into any retailer, when they see a security guard it is a huge turn off. Whenever they see a security guard they think "Oh sh**. This guy is going to screw with me at the door or follow me around why I shop". Even if that doesn't happen, it is the impression.

I think Target decided it was worth it to just complete gut AP except for high dollar crimes. They probably added up all the hours/benefits costs of so many AP employees and realized they would break even if they just let the "little" theft continue instead of having AP try to stop it all.

SoT, if they want to make a better guest impression, they could just cut TPS hours... APLs/APS wear plain clothes right? I feel like they'd be more useful for the high dollar crimes.... My store only has TPS/AP-ETL, and we rely on support from IS for a lot of busts, seems kinda inefficient :/

Back when I started over four years ago, we had three APSs and at least three TPSs. Now we have one APS and two TPSs. We're a high plus high risk store... I cannot imagine the amount at stores lower than mine.

We have one on a good day.

Honestly.. I don't think Target cares if "Guests" come and fill there bags with stuff to resale at the flea market. It's just the cost of doing business and can be pushed on the insurance companies..

Yeah well everything has to be paid for in one way or another... If the insurance agencies start to feel burdened, they'll just raise their premiums, and the cycle goes on....
