For about a year I was only averaging about 15hrs a week but for the past few months I've been hitting at least 35hrs a week because I opened up my availability. But when I checked my average hours in mytime it was only at about 17hrs. Will this reset once the new years starts or is it just going to take me months to build up to the number of average hours I need to start getting benefits? I just wasn't sure how the average hours were actually calculated.

It's a 12 month rolling average. If you do not average 32 (Maybe it's 30 now?) by January 1st you will not get full time benefits and will have to wait until January 1st of the next year to qualify.

The only thing I know about it is it doesn't compute over forty...:-( was looking forward to bragging about that last year when I worked ot almost every week.

You need to get 19.5 hours or higher average to get benefits.

Also, keep in mind that its average hours...not actual hours. So, the average takes a while to go up ( and thankfully a while to go down as well). You will see it slowly go up.

Thanks for the info guys, it kinda stinks for me though because I need to get health insurance before next year. Guess I may need to start searching for a new job.

I've heard Target's health insurance sucks anyways. You're probably better off getting coverage from healthcare.gov.

Wow.. what are you, flow team lead?
At the time I was a perishables assistant. But I pick up overtime every time I can and my tls know it. When we approve ot I can pretty much work whenever there is someone in the building. :)

Targets plan is much better then the company I am with now. I hate health ins. and the confused government required mandates. I would love to be able to purchase my own insurance as I always have before these mandates...Now don't get me wrong, I can purchase private insurance, but I will not get any tax credits because I work for a company that offers health ins.
If I did purchase the private plan it would be 825.00 a month. If my company didn't offer a health ins plan, I would be able to purchase the private plan with a 627.00 tax credit per month. Funny before all the govt required health ins mandates, I had a health plan policy for 300.00 month. And it was a very good one. As soon as Govt. mandated went into effect I had to find a job to make money to pay for the plan and or a job where they would offer me a plan...

So basically I work slave hours for Insurance.

My Medicaid is pretty good, but I'm .3 hours away from qualifying for next year. Based on what I remember about averages from stats class, I believe I should make it. If I do, I hope I can find a good shrink who takes it. Otherwise, I'll stick with medicaid (already qualified and confirmed for next year).

Anyone have any insight on the mental health coverage from tgt?

Outpatient has been good for me.

The ACA isn't too much different than Target's healthcare, aside from the dental and all that extra stuff.

Wait, do they look at your average from January 1 - December 31 or is it from the end of enrollment the prior year to current enrollment? If it's from enrollment to enrollment I have such regret about not calling out when I feel like shit these past couple weeks lol.

Sher I don't remember if mental health is the same as medical deductibles. You can go onto UnitedHealth care site and see if dr you want to use is on the plan. I think most of target uses United healthcare.

Even if you don't have insurance through target you are entitled to 3 visits to a mental health person. I went when my ex was stalking me. Hr should have the phone number/website for you. The one I picked was not a good match for me.
It takes a long time to build up a rapport with a health care professional. I have found most want to blame all your problems on your mother.
I have also found that Many diversified mental healthcare professionals have stopped taking health insurance because they don't want to pay the premium to the ins co.
That would mean you would have to go to out of network information.
I have found targets medical plan to be a very good plan for me because I am picky on my doctors and all my existing doctors and any specialist I would want to use accepts targets plan.
If you like the dr's you are using through Medicaid, then don't bother with targets plan.
It is a lot to weigh out.

You guys are all so much more helpful than the people at my store lol. I felt so crappy going in today, then I started worrying that it was all for nothing. Anyways, thanks for all the info!! I'd write you all great team vibe because of you cards if we were in the same store.

I like my medical doctors fine, but I'm having trouble finding good mental health professionals. I did get info on that tgt counseling thing . And I got info on the one at my mom's job. I'm no longer allowed on her insurance but her EAP allows me for 6 sessions. Now that my hours are dropping and I'll have free time, I'll try to find some help through all the channels currently available to me. But I figure if nothing works out, Target insurance should be an option when enrollment comes around.
