I heard it's supposed to go up to 9.00 in most states In like April or something, is that true?

Some individual states have raised their minimum wage, 9 states have done raised their wage and 3 others are fighting about it.
Chris Christie Gov. of NJ vetoed a raise and New York's Andrew Cu0m0 is working to raise theirs to $8.75.
Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, and Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., introduced the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2012 in July.
The bill proposed a federal minimum wage increase to $9.80 over three years and annual cost-of-living adjustments to keep the minimum wage from falling behind and eroding in value.
Of course the Elephants killed it.
No date has been set as to when the bill will be reintroduced.

In Ohio our minimum wage was increased, but for those of us at Spot who are above the minimum wage didn't see any increase.

New hires make close to what I make and I've been here over six years. Sometimes, I almost want to quit and see if they'd hire me in at a better rate since I'm now an experienced cashier!

I don't think the federal minimum will go up that much if it goes up anytime soon.

The proposed minimum wage in my state (vetoed, probably going on the ballot) is what they start us at in my store, anyway.

Have they ever hired a GSTM above minimum wage due to experience? Serious question...

Don't even get me started, commie. Our state government is dysfunctional beyond belief regardless of which party is in control. /rant

Then again, if they did raise minimum wage that much, I would see a sizeable forced raise at both jobs.

^I initially missed that you were responding to someone whose username was commie... and thought you were calling someone a communist. I need sleep.

More of a Canada style socialist with some Libertarian thrown in the mix but I've been called a commie for most of my life so I just went for it.
Being raised by old time socialists, peace activists and labor organizers has a lasting effect on you.
Beside everybody else was using red.

Not that I would be against an increase, but the way Target does things, anyone making more than that 9.00 would not get an increase. I have been through several "wage adjustments" for hiring needs, and those making more than that new threshold do not get an increase. Was not fair to TM's who at that time got a 90-day raise or their annual raise to make as much as the new TM's that have been there a week when they have been there a year.

Am I the only one who realizes how absolutely sad/pathetic it is that we have to hope for the minimum wage to go up to actually have a hope of getting a real raise?

/me raises his hand.
You're preaching to the choir, my friend.
But telling Spot that they should be paying their people a living wage is like pissing into the wind.
About our only option is to organize.

Speaking of that, it's about time for the anti-union propaganda that the company thinks it needs to spew at us every so often.

If it did i hope the small amount of money i make above current minimum wage in florida (like, a dollar and change) will be applied. Which means I'll be making over 10 dollars an hour. Maybe i'll love my job for once.

Sorry, I've no idea on this answer.

You know, if Spot stopped giving his $4 million dollars a week to schools and gave (at least some) TMs an increase......wouldn't that just be a miracle??

Maybe we could stop hoping that the minimum wage goes up enough to impact us.

So if minimum wage goes up in my state, will they change all the pay grade amounts to reflect the new minimum wage? At my store pay grade 3 is 25 cents above our state's minimum, and I'm at a 7, so I'm wondering how they might affect my paychecks.

It depends. They keep the parity of the pay grades when minimum wage goes up. So you get a raise only if you would be lower than the new base pay of you pay grade.

It seems base pay for new hires for N03 would be MW+25 and N07 is MW+75. Even if minimum wage goes up 20 cents, those would still apply to whatever the new minimum wage is. If you aren't making 75 cents more than the new minimum wage, you will see a bump up to it, otherwise you do not get any increase.

My old store raised the N03 base pay from 7.75 to 8.00, so N07 went from 8.25 to 8.50. Since I made over 8.50 (but under 9), i got nothing. Hooray ;)
