If a TM gets promoted to a TL position how much is the raise?does it depend on the district or the store volume?

$1 (if you're a paygrade 3). It used to be $3 (from base pay), but that changed last year. I have yet to hear anyone promote since then, but I have a feeling they'll have a hard time hiring anyone at $1, so it is probably up for negotiation more than the $3 raise was. It varies slightly by market.

District/State will determine wage scaling. Out here in Portland we were making the standard paygrade above minimum.

PG1 - 0
PG3 - 0
PG5 - $.25
PG7 - $.5
PG9 - $1.00

Team leads start a dollar or dollar fifty over base wage now in my area before they get upped to 3 dollars, or PG13 if they are of good 'leadership' skills.

Back in Montana my Target there was a super high turnover so they inflated the wages considerably, you started at 10 dollars and basically went up 50 cents for ever paygrade movement. So you can imagine how much the Team Leads were making back then.

WTF??? Are you kidding me??? Serious question. Are you joking or not? How did that change?

I was hoping to go back to TL in the long term.... but WTF? For $1? Who would do that? No way would it be worth it.

Many years ago when I promoted to specialist I got a $2 raise and when I moved up to TL it was another $3. And now a jump from TM to TL is $1? How greed can corporate get?

That's just sad. For my own benefit i'm hoping the ETL internship pay stays the same .

i got a 2 dollar raises for a photo asst and 3 for a tl. Photo asst was two years ago and tl was within 2012.

They started a kind of tiered program with TLs now. A new TL starts at a $1 raise and they can apply for another status after a certain period, at that point, I think they get the $3. Its bull****. You're right. You could probably apply directly for the second tier though. Sorry I don't remember details about it. The last time it was mentioned at my store was the AE meeting last year. I was more focused on our headcounts cuts at that point.

When I got TL from GSA, the HR ETL said, "Well, you're now a PG whatever so that's xx. I looked her in the eye and said, "No way am I doing this for a $2. raise." So she gave me an extra $1. Come to find out, it still wasn't worth it and still wasn't what the other GSTLs are making. But I'm a sucker for a pretty face, I guess. Oh, and extra paid holidays. ;)

Yeah, it happened a bit back in 2012. I noticed that half the people in my store stopped even looking forward to moving up when they saw the pay scale. The only benefit at this point is that you are guaranteed 32 hours.

Sounds about right, I was asked if I would be interested in the Early morning BR-TL job, I was kinda into it at first and found out the raise would only be 1$ on top the extra responsibility / stress. (Flow/BR is blamed for everything at our store) Not a chance in hell, I dont know how anyone would want that.

One part time day at my second job out earns a week with that raise easily.

it depend on the district or the store volume, for sure.

At my store from PG03 to PG11 is about $3

I almost pulled my TL application after AE2012 dropped and the new TL rate was Paygrade 11. They gave me paygrade 13 which honestly, the dollar amount still didn't feel like enough after considering all the TL responsibility. That's MN where minimum wage is pretty low.

I had friends who worked 3rd shift at a small Midwestern gas station chain cleaning cappuccino machines who made as much per hour as I did running two teams at a billion dollar retail company.

Wow this is so crazy, I never knew a TL raise was so low. What crap. Getting promoted to electronics TM was an extra dollar for me, which I thought was generous considering Target's history. But a Team Lead who has so many more extra responsibilities, not to mention being in a leadership role for only another dollar? I can't imagine ANYONE taking that. And if they're desperate and do, they are going to wish they didn't if they have any experience as the TLs at my store.

Thanks to everyone here for the comments-I have friends and family who get on me once in a while about not striving more on the job to take on additional duties or go for a position of more responsibilty or (mostly imaginary or illusory) respect, authority, and prestige. Suffice it to say, they just don't get it. It's wonderful to be thought of as someone who can handle more responsibility, but at what price...?

Kinda heartbreaking, but also bittersweetly funny for me-I make about the same per hour NOW as I did as...basically a 2nd tier asst. mgr., at LackLuster Video OVER TEN. YEARS. AGO.

The last time I made what, for ME, is "good" money? Scrubbing toilets and slinging trash. Go figure. ( Course I probably spent any extra cash I had on exfoliating scrub, deodorant, and non-chlorine bleach... )

OK, rant over. Thanks, breakroom forum!!! :)

I have to say the *only* reason I can see promoting to TL for $1 would be worth it would be that it looks good for getting another job.
