MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

Hi someguy and welcome. The quickest easiest way to determine if displays are toss or stay is by doing the signing first. Clear the wall of all displays, adjust the "riser pedals" to the new pogs alignment, find the displays labels for it sent it with the label strips and put those out in order. Then match the signing to the display label (dcpi # in item description of display label- dcpi typed on every sign), then you have the perfect situation. All the signing has the image of the vacuums so just play the match game and your done. No need to scan a single display. just make sure to research the missing displays (scan display label) to ensure you'll eventually get all your displays.

I should of mention that im not the signing specialist. Plus this time they didnt send any fixture labels with the label strips like other sets and when we manually printed the labels only 4 fixture labels were printed. Normally i would of matched the signing to the vacuum but when i asked if i had any signing, our current specialist said he doesn't know/hasn't seen anything/ill go look for it. Then every time i brought it back up Id just get the same answer. He is VERY unorganized and still dont know how he got the position.

Most of the time i don't even bother attaching barcodes to displays anymore. The dpci's tend to change through revisions and the next transition. The sheets of fixture labels they have started sending are somewhat helpful. Often times the dpci of the actual product is included on the label. Just look for the box stock and match it up to your display.

I matched a couple to the box stock but i also have a lot of holes and the typical on hands but for some reason nobody seems to know where they are at. Looked all over the stockroom and receiving and didnt find anything. My TL and ETL are aware of the problem but was just curious if there was a guide or if anyone was having similar issues

Eh, they're going on metal recycle Friday.

Thing is though, the displays do have the proper DPCI of the item in the name of the display, so it's easy to just move them around to the proper spot.

The fixture and display labels also tend to print out when you print the POG labels.

Spring cleaning for the housewares displays has gone so well. 6 old vacuums, 8 old blenders, 5 slow cookers, 3 lamps, and 2 coffee makers were all removed from the floor for being outdated.

Oh and remember to look on backroom quantity report every so often under Housewares, department 072, sort in descending class order for class 94 so you can see if any of your displays get located. I found about 10 lurking around. Most was old toss. But some was accurate :D

im going to have to try and look under the backroom quantity report. Wasn't aware of that

I went looking for my display sheets and couldn't find them either. Not pleased. Search display process on workbench for the new(est) process. I normally wait for the pog pull, then research by dpci. If one is located I walk the backroom aisle.

I find it counterproductive to let the "signing" TM complete all signing. When my team or myself sets any POG we bring out all new fixtures, signing, and the pog pull. It's done all at once correctly including researching missing displays and product- we walk away - and never look bad. Zero rework ever required. Same situation with cosmetics. I can't imagine setting a cosmetic pog without doing the signing at the exact same time. It helps figure out fixtures and makes pushing back 10 times faster.

I only give my signing TM 1 signing shift. The rest they work pog shifts. I only use the signing tm for overheads, CSE's, building bins/focals, ect. Myself and pog team take care of signing as we set the pogs. I typically break down the signing pallet myself and delegate anything that's old and had been ordered to the signing tm if I don't have time to do it myself. I'm personally all about efficiency. Working smart not hard. Don't think too much just do. Faster, smarter... lol. I try to retain and develop teams that have the menality of what all can be done in an 8 hour shift versus I have 8 hours to do this pog. POG is only as hard as you allow it to be.

Can I clone your brain to stick in my pptl's head? I'm tired of researching, ordering, setting, etc after her team.

I was putting up the toy outriggers.... the minions were straddling two shelves... with the 8ft tmnt header still over them. Wtf. Missed during the big reset plus a revision. I'm fucking done.

My Pog team can barely set pogs right, and half of them can't despite being the veterans by a good long ways, expecting them to handle the signing would be like expecting a hampster to plot out a interplanetary transfer orbit. At my store I do all the signing, all the displays, I pick up after them pretty much constantly, wage a guerrilla campaign against the entire stores inability to put anything away in the signing room and their tendency to shove things they don't want to deal with into the signing/bike building area, make metal recycling pallets, deal with the old displays that plano has taken down, put on flats and then shoved into the back of receiving... the list is never ending. I had one of my pog veterans tell me they didn't know how to make a shelf label yesterday.

At my store, plano sets POGs, and asks me for backer paper. I take care of the signing, but they'll sometimes come to me asking for it.

Either way, other things I do under signing include things such as:
  1. Cleaning and maintaining the fixture room
  2. Auditing displays. Easily done this week since it was the small appliance revisions but it took some time
  3. Ensuring each endcap has a "Cart stopping prices" header, a "sale" header, and the numbers "00.00" behind it.
  4. Ensuring all the aisle numbers and CECS are accurate
  5. Sometimes doing a sales planner or POG
  6. A variety of other helpful things such as replacing the single label holders on curtain and shower curtain aisles with the 4 ft pegged label holder or installing the black pushers in places.
I do think that your way of doing things sounds good, and it looks like it works for your store. I'm just glad my PTL thinks differently ;)

I pulled about 15 displays from the backroom that were located but never set up. SMH. One was a Lego toy display.

Was it the start wars from last year (2015) 4th quarter? The one that was given an inch fit to display until the revision a couple months later? Lol.

When I started this is how the Plano team was run. We have changed people since then and I am slowly teaching them to handle all aspects of their planos themselves. Trying to teach them displays now so when I am out on maternity leave they don't leave old ones up or empty shelves. I still break down my signing pallets and organize it all, but then let the PTL know what we got in to prioritize. I spend more than half my time setting planos with the team and keeping them on track and the rest of my time doing signing, usually about one full day a week.

I, too, find it way easier to set an aisle with all the fixtures and signing to begin with. Way less rework!

So I heard we are getting both A&A 2.0 and Home Innovation, within a 1 months span this summer. (I mean both happen in the same month, not a month inbetween).

went through E&E/Optical/Self Checkout last year, and I can't see this being ANY better especially since it is smack dab in the middle of our BTC/BTS superfreaky time.

My god kill me.

Or the Old Display that was replaced by a new Display, only to be replaced once again with said Display that was an Old Display, but now became the new Display?

We had someone who supposedly was very experienced with POGs transfer into our store.

They set an endcap in reverse.

Yep.

Wow. o_O How does that even happen??? You have to make a concerted effort to turn a pog around....did they give an explanation??

Anybody know the part number for green rolling rack the one for pfresh. 3foot or 4foot.
Thanks in advance

Not sure on a part number but I would try searching "green metro rack" or "pfresh metro rack" in SAP. I know I've ordered label holders for the racks before and they were called something similar.

Has anyone set the new duct tape fixture yet? Looking up the number for it in sap only gives some sort of weird bracket and I'm not at all sure what the end result is supposed to be. Fixture # it gives is AX5970.

Anybody know what these are?

Interior for the freezer coolers? Being white just taking a shot..

So in my signing steel sat two boxes of "cart stopping prices" headers. We have storage space for this in the fixtures and the two boxes didn't fit.

So I embarked on this multiweek project ensuring the entire store's endcap had those headers, sale headers, and the proper amount of price points.

I had to order more of the cart stopping prices headers but I got them out of my steel! :D

Finally finished today.

Cecs audit for grocery and pets paper chemicals tomorrow then I can safely cross off another project
