MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

hey guys, how do y'all label your tv wall?

we're brainstorming because apparently best practice isnt good enough for our exec team. they CONSTANTLY sell tvs off the tv wall, then we have to find the pog and figure out whats missing. i know they send label strips, but we usually chunk them. my tm wants to put strip holders on the front bars. what do yall think?

There are magnetic sign holders on the bars that have the TV brands directly under each TV so I'm a little confused what your exec. team is doing to you.
And unless it's a clearance TV they're not supposed to sell the one on the wall.

We use a Hip printer to print labels and physically stick them to the side of the TV. This way we can scan and know what TV is which. Then you can use the planogram and see whats missing.

I was told today that my stl said he wanted me to set the TV wall. *sigh*

I think I will print out the plano twice on adhesive label stock. Stick one on the TV, one under the signholder.

The signholders suck. Could they have put any smaller neo magnets on them?

Any tips or tricks for setting TVs fast? I gotta do it mostly by myself (sft will help on the larger TVs) in a day...................

Wow. Good luck. :(

Have you shown your STL the document on Workbench explaining how much work this set is going to be? It says that the SFT is allotted 6 hours, plus the store is allotted 6 extra in addition to what the Adjacency Calendar lists (which was like 13, if I recall). It even lists the workcenter to charge the hours to. I'll be coming in at 3am with my SFT, signing specialist, and two team members, all just to do TVs.

Just got a text. I'm off today and they started without me. Wondering if I should be relieved or worried if whatever was in that huge box will be put up right.....

The huge box was three different signs that needed to be built. One goes above the sound bars. One describes what the best TV for you is. And one holds the cards I believe for delivery and installation. Built them a few days ago.

my store uses the method of sticking an adhesive label directly on the tv. selling them off of the wall though would be problematic with that. as far as putting the strips up - it isn't going to look brand (they want it to look like a floating wall of TVs, hence all the black). we use the strips to set the TVs, but after that they get tossed. i would reccommend if anything - you could take the clear adhesive 48" label holders (i believe these are used for p-fresh in the wood shelves, but also sometimes as replacement MMB strips for the tiered book shelves) and stick that to the Power and Cable cord blockers behind the TVs on the walls. We have these in basically every section so it is possible, perhaps not if your store does not have as many.

however - i always reprint a couple copies of the picture/schematic page of the pog - tape it all together to make one large map/blueprint. this helps for signing, and future issues. one you figure out which TVs go where you detail the heck out of that map (TV DPCI, sign DPCIs, prices, brand, size, anything relevant so you know where everything goes in a quick glance) and keep it in a safe place for future reference in just such a scenario. I know I have one for myself, and give one to our Elec TL. that's what i've found works for us.

I like the idea of printing out a copy of the 1st image sheet and detailing it. I have 32 hours next week, so I have time to do that. I didn't open the large sign kit, but do you think there may be a place to hide a copy in a sheet protector there? Trying to think of somewhere it can be easily accessed and not lost. ?? LOL, maybe under the last basedeck if anything!

I don't think I would keep the long strips up, not brand. Just half sticking a label to the lightweight signholder's bar, at the TV center, and putting the signholder over is probably how I will go.

I always go through the planogram for the TV wall and write down the size, manufacturer, and DPCI for each TV pictured. This way I can look at it and know exactly what TV goes where without having to scan the TVs or keep flipping to the line listing.

There's a gap behind the bigger sign that sits on the basedeck. You can hide a copy of the TV wall in there.

there's a lot of moves, literally nothing stays the same. you're gonna need at least one other person. my signing guy has been here forever, and it took him and another tm the full shift to get them done. maybe the electronics tm can help label the displays and get the brackets on while you put them up?

The wall looks so awesome from 20 feet away. I got that warm fuzzy "I accomplished something" feeling. Did everyone get their soundbars working correctly?

Oh, and where are the brochures that go in the Connect/Protect holders? Are those like a scannable sign or something, or do they come in shipped to the store? Also, my store has some DirectTV + Target special offers brochures, does anyone else have these floating around their TV wall? I can take a picture tomorrow.

There are a few people I would so like to rub down with cube steak and drop into a pit of hungry shrews.
One group is whoever came up with the planogram for the TV wall and the other is the engineers who decided that it was a bright idea to put the coax cable connection right against the edge of the pocket in the back of the TV where it is impossible to screw the damn things in.

Shrews...vicious little buggers.

My biggest gripe with the wall is trying to get the cables all buttoned up and tidy. For whatever reason, my store thinks it's too good to use the shadow boxes (they are kinda stupidly designed) so it's my job to make all the coax and power cables reasonably well-hidden. Unfortunately, the TV-Trac's permanence on the wall makes that difficult. There's only so many outlets in a fixed location. And we generally don't completely strip the wall so It's not something I can start from scratch.

Oh well... till next time TV wall, till next time.

I put the Direct TV + Target brochure in the two slots for brochures. I wish they would send sign holders with bigger or better magnets for the TV wall.

hey guys,

didnt notice if it came down in a message board, but theres a sign on the bose display that is attached and says something about a deal with target to get 60 bucks off if you purchase a tv. the deal expired in march. ours was still attached.

Question. Where do we send all the Kindle displays to? Seems like I read the info somewhere, but couldn't find it today.

CRC through receiving.

did everyone else get their nikon displays down? it said to save the display paddle and the 4 dummy cameras in the ETL HLs office. what about the LCD screen or the huge motherboard?

If I remember correctly, the signing package form the transition contained a sticker to apply over the original, extending the deal to 2013.

i saw the message board for the instructions on taking it down, but its still up for now. Probably take it down toward the end on the week.

It took us about 10 minutes to take apart.
The metal got dumped, the motherboard sent to CRC for recycling and the cameras boxed up for the Nikon rep.

I didn't see anything about the extra 6 hours. Where did you see that message?

Anyone know? Esupport has been no help. I told them all the model numbers and they got back, telling me that those displays had been discontinued. DUH! Thats why I'm asking...
