MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

Are you at 40 hours for the week? If not, I wouldn't leave early and make them use those extra 2 hours of payroll they didn't plan for. Fuckers.

Yeah, the 5 hours on Saturday will put me at 40. Only because I am helping at another store helping with their beauty transition. Getting rid of all the transcend fixtures. Something all new. Look like moveable walls in softlines.

Our HRBP came to our store yesterday and told my old PPTL, now the GM2, to make sure the store's signing specialist was scheduled at 6am for the Vineyard Vines launch.

The what? The who?

Clearly, she's as brain dead as she looks and as I thought. This is May 2019, not May 2009. Didn't she get the memo that there's not even a signing tm anymore?

AFAIK, I'm the closest thing our store has, had?, to that position. I'm scheduled PHAR on that day to push from 8am to 1pm. But the tl asked me to come in at 6am anyway.

To be fair, the modernization guide doesn't state anywhere that the signing specialist is gone. ASANTS of course, but if your store took it away, they are doing something 1 step away from Best Practice. Only the Presentation work center was gone, not signing.

Really? And here I was told the signing job was gone.

Our presentation still lives under "presentation experts/GM" but are only to do transition workload.

As for signing, it may not say the position is gone, but it doesnt say it exist either. ASANT whether your store keeps it or not in one form or another.

There was nothing stated about the signing position at all, so most stores assumed that it just didn't exist.

yeah, i'm still getting 30+ hours in signing every week and was told the position is staying so it really does seem like it's a store-to-store decision? but it's hard to tell.

I had suspected that might be the case since the guides still give time for non-pog signing.

Though the addendum did mention having a GM TM hang the FOS overhead, so I don't know.

because our SD said something along the lines of "people are supposed to 'stay in their lanes' and not work in areas that aren't theirs"

I didn't think about this. During my 1 on 1 they made a point to tell me that I couldn't take any shifts that weren't under my GM ETL. Said it was a new hard rule no exceptions etc etc.

And yet, tonight for the first time ever, I am scheduled as "Softlines/Salesfloor". Not that I care because It's going to be a super easy shift and I should be able to get a couple of other things caught up. But I guess that "no exceptions" doesnt apply when THEY need the exception.

anyone around for the vineyard vines launch today? i went in last night to do the signing because my etl panicked when they realized i wasn't going to be there, but the amount of signing i had took me about 20 minutes to complete (like they seriously could've done this themselves, it was that easy and that little) and i just spent the next couple hours doing my own stuff lol. managed to snag a free t-shirt, tho!

on another note, it always cracks me up when i'm putting up the easiest overheads like the whale overhead and my co-workers gape at me like i'm doing god's work.

Same! All I had to do this morning was hang the overhead and I also got a t-shirt out of the deal. Spent the rest of my short shift working on late pogs.

Had 1 guest waiting at open. Said she got there at 6AM. She said the other Spots in our area had long lines, campers from last night, and TV news camera crews at them.

I did not get a shirt 🤬, only got to do softlines tasks. But did get to leave early when we ran out of easy stuff...
