Today was my first time on a check lane in a long time at my store. In the town I work the guests have a huge reputation for being extremely rude and entitled. Our store always says yes to any coupon request no matter how much of a lie the claim is. Me and a lot of other team members get angry that the team leads want us to run the store this way because we allow things to go out the door at much lower prices than they ever should. This all came to a head today with a lady who was purchasing Dove soap. She had 4 coupons for buy four get one on the soap and she separated it into two transactions. She gave me the coupon and the first one went through okay then she gave me the second and the computer instantly red flagged it, so I handed it back and let her know that it could only be used once per transaction unless she wanted to purchase 8. She immediately threw it back and said "they did it yesterday so you have to" so having no patience I just changed the price to zero on one of them and was hoping that was the end of it. But then the second transaction she attempted to do the same thing and that's when I just said "sorry but this is against the terms of Target and the coupon whoever helped you yesterday was not giving an accurate representation of our policies so I cannot accept a second coupon. She started to scream profanity at me so again I followed my stores policy and just did a price change. After the receipt printed she began to scream at me once again. She was supposed to get a 5 dollar gift card for each of the 4 soaps she bought and me voiding them disqualified her for the gift card. She began to insult me personally so I just tossed the receipt over and said "go to guest services". Lucky for our store because I am known to hate the lanes so GSTL gave me the break board, and the break at that time was a lunch that needed to be covered at guest services. I followed the lady up there and mingled with the person who's spot I was taking and I overheard the coupon lady telling the GSTL a false story of what happened. So I ran to my lane and grabbed the 4 coupons with the terms on them and gave it to the GSTL (luckily the one on duty doesn't take any b$ from the guests) so with the lady losing control because I cut her off right before falsely getting money from our store we called AP over to check it out. Turns out AP and this lady have a bit of a coupon history so we returned the coupons to her and AP escorted her out. That was just another shift on the lanes on my store i'd love to hear any other coupon stories if there are any out there.
