Unionizing your department

According to NLRB, you only need the signatures of 30% of your department to trigger a union election in that department. After you send those signatures to the NLRB (put “Petition” and the name of your proposed union on the top of each page), the NLRB will hold an election in your department. If 50% of those who vote end up voting in favor of unionizing, then it’s over & you get a union. It’s very simple.

Bet this is a manager! Surprise, surprise!! Can’t imagine why their profile would recommend the Integrity line, whose investigators openly boast about being pros in “union avoidance.”

Chill out.
1. It wouldn't matter if they were a manager. They are welcome here.
We've had people from Spot come through here for years but most lurk and would never admit it.
2. I know HLM isn't one of them.
3. While I am hard core pro union, I do understand why folks like HLM might not be.
4. If we can't be civil here I will shut this down.

😂

I think a factor that might come into play is if more stand alone Starbucks unionize.

You might loose more baristas to those stores.

I also think the general public doesn't realize that at Target and Kroger those TMs work for those corporations not Starbucks.

I’m not seeing how I was in any way uncivil.

It was a pre-warning.
Also, don't accuse people of being management just because they don't agree with you.
That's union organizing 101. You want to change people's minds, not alienate them.

My grandfather was a Wobbly (Industrial Workers of the World) organizer in the 30's, back when they shot you for that sort of thing.
He voted for Eugene Debs 3 times. I still have my grandfathers Little Red Songbook.
I had an Uncle who was a old school Communist and my mom was a socialist.
My dad was in the carpenters union all of his life.
I'm a member of a union right now.
I think unions are always working peoples best option.
But I'm not going to put people on blast because they don't think unionizing Spot is going to work.
That is not how you gather support.

May I ask what your point is in posting this?
Workers at a Target store in Christiansburg, Virginia, plan to refile a petition to hold a union election with the U.S. labor board within the next few weeks after failing to garner enough valid signatures during their first attempt.

Unions need to garner support from at least 30% of workers who are eligible to vote in order to hold an official election under the supervision of the U.S. National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). They did not meet that threshold because they underestimated the number of employees that worked in the store. They also discovered that some employees put their common name on cards rather than their legal name, which disqualified those individuals.

Nope, just trying to fill you in on stuff you don't know because you are new here.
If there is anything else I can help you with just let me know.
Sorry, what were you saying?

If there are tons of managers from other stores in your store - and they all started in there around the time management found out you were talking about unions - do you think it’s necessarily surveillance & union busting?

I’ve never heard anyone at work tell us to vote Democrat. If this were a union job, they might.

You just want to unionize your dept? Like just fulfillment or just starbucks? Why not the whole store? I find the recent increase in unions interesting, especially at places like Starbucks and other entry level jobs. I can't wait to see how it plays out. How long have you worked for target? Do you have experience with unions?

Because it may be inappropriate to do the whole store.

NLRB has the final say on what is the proper bargaining unit. Yes, it could be Fulfillment alone or the Starbucks alone, but the NLRB would get to decide that when you send in your petition with the signatures. NLRB could always say no, it has to be the entire store.

Fox News in Va.
If you read your 1st post about unions. You knew this fact already.
