MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

You shouldn't set them even with Plano hours. That's Market's problem, not plano's. Our Market TL dealt with all that since they are endcaps and left a flat (that is supposed to be used for the truck!) filled with garbage from the project. Guess where it's residing? In the fixture room.

I mean yes, but I get asked for things all the time.

I get asked for things a lot less now. I think we've all just given up if we don't know where something is, lol.

Is anyone dreading/having nightmares about bts clearance??

I'm still having nightmares about toys clearance. I'll worry about BTS in about three more weeks.

Technically it shouldn’t even have come out of markets payroll. Every store was able to expense between 10-20 hours to special projects depending on how many you got to assist the PML in building and putting them up. Then the SPLs should be from the market team.

What the actual shit is that
Color changes everything replace Jason Wu stuff. It made new sets in Apparel and Accessories called "Color Explosion".
There were a few screw ups on the FOS at some stores. Those pictures are in that thread.
Here is the thread about it from Feb 2012.

our store has like 8hrs a week or something for signing. The super who was supposed to name someone never did, so my manager gave it to me. I've never done signing before, but the store manager noted something about me being the signing expert...and my first task after going through the signing we had in the fixture room was to add a location for our stupid metal fencing. I'm not sure what to think about that at all...I'm like, happy for the more hours, but half expect to be the one to deal with the fixture room. it's a MESS...but then, I like cleaning. I suppose if I'm given 8 hours to clean, it won't be so bad...I dunno...but store manager did call me a signing expert lol

I've undertaken maintaining the PLUG aisles on the salesfloor, and what with the reset coming up (10/6 for my store at least), I have dozens of old displays for models we don't sell anymore or were never put onto the floor. Should these be tossed? Or defected out and wrapped up on a pallet?

So they are displays that do not scan to the currently tied pogs? And are also not for any upcoming pogs?

If so, toss them on the CRC pallet. Technically they should be defected out (as long as you have the display DPCI, not the sellable DPCI), but I never use that process for displays and just place them on the CRC stuff.

Correct - had a guest ask about a Bialetti (the coffee brand) toaster because we had a model for it. Will check tonight and scan through the displays. Thanks.

If it’s just the shells you can toss them. If they appear to be a real unit with the core cut like the vacuums place then on CRC

Yeeted into the compactor myself

omg - that color thing almost broke my back when I was on the wave connecting it all together- and I remember people calling every two minutes- “is the wave available yet”. We had two entrances and was definitely ready to choke out the ism designer for that one after that. Signing for many years - left 5 years ago but still have flashbacks of some the most difficult and rewarding builds. Hope the new expert thing works out for former signing specialists.

The market endcaps look great!

Can we please do this around the entire store? Maybe have permanent sidecap fixtures on everything?

Did everyone get their new black sidecaps installed already? I'm scheduled to do sidecaps all next week and still have the old ones.

What new expert thing? Did you read it in the addendum somewhere?

My SD is still ignoring the last update about giving me that 10 hours per week. I expect nothing different if there is another change. Anything that calls for hours, I won't get.

I do signing under Presentation as well. Because that’s part of the job now.

Some of it yeah, but wasn't it always? Doing signing under presentation doesn't cover sorting the pallets, maintaining the fixture room, hanging oh signing, etc. I get zero hours for all that.

So as of yesterday, my tl and finally decided that until I completely stop doing "extra" signing I get no hours for, our SD will never get it. From now on, I do nothing that I'm not scheduled for. No sorting pallets, no tidying up the mess people leave in the fixture room ... nothing.
