Like like the printers some of the vendors here use.
Now that I think about it, it seems like every vendor who prints out their invoice in front of me is using a similar looking printer. It's hard to tell since they're always in a carrying case.

Just got 5 of these in today and got them set up and on the network. Just waiting on the labels to come in then they will go out to the wild. The belt clip by far is my favorite thing to try out!

i feel like in 2017 we should've come to the point where one printer can print from either the clearance or the defective labels

on a side note I wonder if this will help at all with the reprint ticket func being broken-- if it's a problem with the printer rather than the POS. but it's probably the POS.

How do you mean the reprint func is broken? It works perfectly at my GS registers.

The HQ employee who has been monitoring my stores usage of these printers has told me that some places in the store will have the config stations at the desk. His examples were two at the service desk so that they're always charging but are un-dockable if needed, also Fitting Room/Electronics Boat.

Regarding the config program, I honestly don't know how they're going to do it. The person who was configuring them for us came in with a HQ laptop and was configuring them with the zebra program, honestly it looked like a hex editor. I hope they've figured out a way to reset them without using that.

L-O-L

Exactly what I worried they would do.

We just received 6 new Zebra printers. Below, a bit of soft Zebra Pic Porn for your enjoyment. They're not yet configured but should be within the next day or so. Examining them, they're quite light and seem easy to load with labels. I also heard we may be receiving one or two that accepts multiple label types - will take two label rolls to enable you to print as needed from two different label stock. <-- this would be extremely helpful.

So what's the update? Can some print from two different labels?

Did anyone get new label rolls with the printers? We have been tossing half the roll of the old ones to use in the Zebra.
The zebras should have their own white rolls that are separate from the o Neil printers.

No word yet when we may receive the multi-roll version. As far as the labels, we've ordered new labels that will fit the Zebra printers. The o Neil labels are just a bit off and if used you'll end up wasting quite a few as mentioned above.

Been using them for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately they don't have the same holding power as the older ones so we've been told to unravel them until it fits into the printer :/

Actually, I've got an update regarding this. The computer that we use to reset the old printers as well as PDAs has been updated with a new Printer Config program the you can select if you want the old printer or the zebras. They seem to have figured it out.

As requested, here is a picture of the printer config program. AFAIK it's exactly the same as the old one but compatibility has been added to support the zebras.

Oooh, I think I know what they're doing. Tricky tricky.

The Zebra config utility just sends a set of commands to the printer over the COM port. The interface is a little clunky and not the best thing in the world. It looks like they wrote their own GUI to send the config to the printer, simplifying the config process for the store. By pushing out their own app, they remove the dependency of the whole Zebra setup utility stack from being installed. Easier to push out a small custom app corp-wide rather than a 3rd party one.

I like them, although we have yet to get the smaller sized rolls of labels or tickets. Instead, we use half used rolls of the old stock. It also my understanding that the supplies for these printers are not even listed on SAP. In addition, I guess the clearance ticket rolls for the old O'Neil printers is on backorder. Just wonder what will happen when we run out of clearance tickets.
