2023 New pilots?

Not much more than what was already posted on workbench. They just went over all the guides, who would own what. A lot of stores are losing 1-4 leads & some are gaining. My store specifically is losing the S&E etl & he’s sliding to Merch ops ETL. Starbucks TL now owns produce/meat while the market TL owns dry, freezer, dairy. Our 1 specialty TL owns all of style, home, domestics, baby & seasonal. Our 2 gm leads own essentials, hardlines, tech & beauty. We have 2 S&E TLs but we’re supposed to lose 1. Apparently nothing else is coming out until February 20th, that’s when they tell us how much payroll will be allocated to each work center based on workload.
That's absolutely insane. Hopefully you're on the smaller side volume wise and this isn't gonna happen to most of the locations. 1 Specialty TL total is a terrible idea.

It's weird how they make it a point in the guide to state that the Closing TL will report to the S&E ETL, but then get rid of S&E ETLs in a lot of stores anyway so nothing really changes.
I think it's a really bad move to nix the S&E ETL... IDK the volume of the store losing one but ours would tank even harder. Can't even imagine our ETL's now trying to also absorb the S&E role into their own. They're all running around stressed as it is. Like Holiday never ended. The way Target works with never giving hours you'd think they'd want more ETL's since they're salary.

I haven't read the rollout guides but since I've heard things different ways I'm guessing that there are different pilots where some stores lose S&E and the SD owns that and stores where MerchOps and S&E both rollout with changes.

Salary is still payroll. Just comes out of a different account. Each store only gets so much salary budget also.

Our Receiving has been doing the stuff listed there as extra since I was hired 3.5 years ago.

Most of us receivers have been doing IRs the entire time I've been one which is 10 plus years.
It's nice to finally have that reflected in our work load.

It's just based on headcount now. How many you have vs how many you're supposed to have. Individual salary is looked at at the district and higher level, but they don't add/remove roles based on the salary of the ETLs.

2 of the ETLs (out of 4 total) at my original location were approaching SD pay before they promoted, for example. We never went up/down headcount despite them making bank.

That’s not what I even said.

Your SD will absorb the extra work not your ETLs. Same with stores that currently don’t have a Specialty or S&E.

Ehhh kinda. Salary the way are describing it no. Your district is given a budget for headcount for salary level and so is a store. It doesn’t matter how much an etl or sd makes so no your store isn’t given a salary budget they’re given a head count. A group of 4 ETLs could make anywhere from $220,000 - $400,000ish so that would make it pretty close to impossible if you were given a dollar budget.

Similar here. My store is also losing an ETL, I know that we have tons of people and TLs shifting around the store

SM ETL -> Backroom / Fulfillment ETL
SM ETL now takes care of all SM (previously it was just style)
CLTL -> diff store
SETL -> CLTL
Style TL -> GSTL
GM TL -> plano TL
Plano TL -> general overnight TL
GM TL -> Basically all of GM in the store
F&B / Fulfillment ETL -> GM & F&B ETL
those are the ones I know about. I know our CLTL wants to move but he doesn't want to fall into the chaos rn.

Listed salary range is 60,000 to 120,000 for ETLs and 100,000 to 200,000 for SDs, at least in NY, so yeah, 4 ETLs could easily be nearing 400,000 if they've been with the company for a while.

At least in my store we are losing 2 TLs in Style and adding second one to Market. It’s going to be interesting having only 1 TL in Style. We are over $80 million store.
That seems crazy. My SD read me the leadership allocation for our volume ($60 mil, type C) and we have 2 GM, 2 Specialty, 1 merch ops, 1 fulfillment, 1 market, 1 food service, and the 2 SETLs and 2 closing.

Wouldn't mind if they gave each store a couple like official "Captain" positions for TMs. Could pay an extra $1 or 2, and they'd be the designated trainer and point person when the TL/ETL is unavailable.

Ex. Service & Engagement Captain (old GSA) that'd train new hires, run breaks and speed weave, do cash office, etc
Or
A Fullfillment Captain (pacesetter) that trains, can help with INfs, can call for backup, etc

Basically, it's things that these TMs are already doing, but at least recognizing them with a bit of extra cash and a fancier title for the trouble!

Thinking this would be the TL bench/development pipeline spots, like the old GSAs, Brand Specialists, PAs, etc
Yeah, as you said right above where my reply is going, for the most part, this just happens when someone enters development now, so the “captain” roles would likely vary by store and department.

Wonder how serious they are about this process and if it'll actually roll out. Looks like a lot of leader headcount increases for it to actually effectively roll out.
I wouldn't count on that. Stores never received the proper payroll to effectively run the modernization model, so why would we recieve enough to run this processing?

So S&E will have 4 TLs and Specialty will have 2? And 1 Merch Ops for Pricing, Backroom, Presentation, In stocks, and Revlog? Jeez the team making these headcounts isn't even trying to pretend they know how stores work.

They need to just bite the bullet and add headcount for Merch Ops ffs.
