MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

I have not received new street signs for my aisles for more than half a year at this point. You know, the ones that say "bagged candy" or " swim goggles" or "shower curtains". The last set I know we received was Lawn and patio. Any advice?

You can have mine then. I keep getting them even though I am a Next Gen store and my headers don't use them. I would just MySupport it. Probably won't actually solve anything, but at least you can say that you did what you could. Other thing would be to tell your DTL next time they visit. Sometimes senior leadership can actually do something every now and then.

EYYYYY You too huh?

I don't know why we still get them. Drives me insane.

Small formats have the next gen headers now and we have category strips. Not sure why only small formats get them. But we also don’t use generic headers like the blank target ones or the “sale” headers so maybe that’s why

Is there a Black Friday map? Or did I miss it?
No maps this year. Just a list that your store has to edit. It’s on the Black Friday workbench page. There’s one for small format/chain and one for next gen. It gives you editable boxes to tweak for your store. These are what you’re supposed to print and hand out to guests

You earn the hours so technically yes but thatwould require someone scheduled for non pog signing

Earn the hours? What does that mean? Not that it matters, I've never even seen these toppers. I threw away all the unused signing from 11/3 today. Came to 2 carts full. Seems a waste, but I can't let the fixture room fill up with unused signing. So I take 5 minutes a day to straighten it up.

Every week you earn non pog signing hours for things like the toppers. November week 1 was 20 hours and the rest of November is 10 hours a week.

We haven't gotten any either and we aren't next gen yet so I was wondering what was up too

Nothing against you, but this is so laughable. And I'm certain by the posts I read on here that I'm not the only one who gets no weekly hours. I haven't had one signing hour since the week of 10/27. My tl has talked himself blue in the face with the ETL and SD about this. He even has copies of the addendums, addenda?, to prove I should be getting hours. I have a signing shift on Wednesday night, 11/27, from 9pm to 430 am. But who was supposed to have maintained the fixture room and broken down the signing pallet and organized the signing all these weeks?

I'm in the position of still doing it but given no hours. Ultimately, it effects me the most.

As long as I'm averaging 40 hours per week, I'm good. If that starts to drop, I'm going to have a real issue.

For now, I just wait a few weeks, then toss the unused signing.

I mean I wasn’t trying to start anything. If you read back a few posts I said “that would require someone to actually be scheduled”. I’m well aware of the ISM disconnect with store leadership. Someone asked me what I was referring to when I mentioned non pog ism so that’s I mentioned what it was. No worries no offense taken but you should probably read further back before assuming and replying to someone

Does anybody else have the sneaking suspicion that they took the “signing specialist” position away from 2000+ strong and capable TMs just to give it to the Visual Merchandiser at the beginning of next year? And basically make it a TL position? Cuz I think that’s what’s going to happen. I feel cheated, and stuck in a position I now hate. Just me?

I think that's exactly what they are doing. My VM asks for my help for most of the signing he is supposed to place. He knows he can't hold a candle to my expertise and respects that I can do it more easily. Luckily I have adjusted pretty well with how the signing role has changed in the last year and am content in my presentation expert role so it doesn't bother me much if they do make signing an integral part of the VM position.

When I worked at a different retailer the visual merchandising and signing was done by the same person.
