Fix merch locate, fix online order returns, change the help button into just a “GSTL to lane x” walkie button.

Havent had any issues with merch locate lately, just that it takes a bit to load sometimes. online order returns is a deeper issue with the fufillment center. The best way to process those is either with the barcode on their phone as other options usually dont work right (ie, they try the wrong card or the packing slip is messed up). I do like the walkie idea though!!! That is something that they might have to partner with another team to develop though but is entirely possible as the "additional cashier" sound is linked up to the register.

Yes to all of these!!

Integrate POS with as many myWork, myGo, and myCheckout features as possible.
  • Allow cashiers to look up aisle locations, backroom quantities, and other store quantities without needing to call the GSTL over for a Zebra (essentially what Merch Locate used to do, but make it better).
  • Allow guests to order items online at the registers -- instead to track down the ONE myCheckout device in the entire store that works
  • Allow service desk TMs to process myGo orders on the registers (helpful during 4th quarter when online pickups are crazy and there aren't enough Zebras to go around

This would take a lot, and I mean a lot to accomplish. They would have to re-write the software to sync up to target.com (which both are hard enough to keep up with already). I know they are already backuped with projects they are working on as well so I do not see this happening without someone high enough up to direct their team to add. As for myGo orders, you can also process them on the IPad up at the SD which every store should have. If there are connection issues (which is usually the main issue with them) keep calling CSC until they have enough data to figure out how to fix the issue.

I thought I saw a redwire recently that said the ipad could no longer process OPUs and to use a mydevice from now on.

I have a feeling AP will finally be going hands off. I hope not, but it’s the trend lately in the loss prevention world.

Sheeesh that big of a pay. My VM didn’t spend time doing hardlines VM workload. :(

The truth of the matter is if you have a VML or VM or whatever you call them who does the job and does it right they are worth the pay. If they know how to set up merchandise to sell they actually move product. If you have a VM/VML who doesn't do the job then obviously they aren't worth the pay. If you work in that area then you know full well that plano and VMG coming out of corporate office is 90% of the time useless (at least for SL). Either they use product that has been in your store so long it's already gone or they use stuff that doesn't fit or work for the fixtures you have. Which of course means that a lot of the time they are not only doing VMG but making it up as they go. But that's just IMO for what it's worth, which probably isn't much in the grand scheme of things. ;)

no it shouldn't because signing is evil and vm does so much work so so so mcuh

Again... if you have a signing TM who does their job and does it well they would be worth every penny of TL pay. If you don't, they might not even be worth TM pay. -_- Unfortunately my store has not been blessed with an awesome signing TM. We had one in the past whom I would have gladly given SRTL pay if I had the power (just to keep her) because she amazingly managed all signing including softlines (and I don't mean handing us the signs and going 'heres your signs').... oh no, she put ALL signs up and on time. Miss her.

I *am* signing TM :p

Yeah my old store had a good signing tm ours sucks. He got a 1 on his review last year, if he got TL pay I would quit

My expectations for 2018:
Increased number of SRTLs for high/mid volume stores
Decreased number of ETLs to 4-5 based on volume (extreme high volume stores may still have many etls). But average store will be STL, Salesfloor ETL, Guest Service ETL, Logistics. Hopefully full elimination of AP and HR etl position as they are mainly doing LOD routines as this point for the most part.
Small increase in TLs or staying the same.
Increased number of routines added to each position in addition to the standard print from previous years for AA and other E2E areas.

I feel the job descriptions will increase but few changes to team member positions beyond the paygrade changes.

I honestly expect SFS TL to be a thing in the near future, at truly high volume SFS stores. I feel like this will be made if ETL-HR/ETL-AP./ETL-GE are truly eliminated, easily.

If ETL-HR/ETL-AP/ETL-GE are all eliminated, I honestly see TL's for every area, and specialists maybe making a comeback.

I can honestly say I contribute 3 times more, than my VM(T?)(L?). Unfortunately, most of the time, now, I am used as a "Fill in" guy for whoever the hell called out that day (Our SFS Opener, mostly). Or pulling the overnight manuals. Or Throwing the Truck, or Pallet dropping freight, or back stocking, or emergency Market Opener, or what have you.

I hope it's for all stores. The other store in town had a similar volume as ours, but then they got switched to FedEx and magically started getting twice as many orders. If Target ever fixes that or switches everyone entirely to FedEx, their volume would even out.

Lower volume stores could give other responsibilities to an SFS TL.

Our consumables TL took over beauty when the Starbucks TL got stuck with grocery. Seems to be working out well, but I agree it's definitely not something that would be easy for any random salesfloor TL to take on.

Plano and signing officially get nuked completely or merged with the VM team.

More stores lose ETL-HR and ETL-AP.

VMTL comes back.
if that happens at my store say goodbye to the lazy salesfloor tms because we would much rather push a nuked plano team to salesfloor to set pogs than let those great folks go at my store respectively -- as it is the salesfloor hardly can set an endcap and end to end is a good idea for plano/salesfloor/cashir/flow/backroom imo maybe not softlines and beauty though....those should be paid more imo. Such crazy jobs. I feel like working in an amazon warehouse would slightly more work for way more pay but I dont live close enough to one. Retail is fun but logistics in companies like amazon, target and cosco are amazing....fuck wal mart tho..lmao I aint tryna say I worked for wal mart at any given time to any given person. McDonalds of retail.

Photo has been gone in my store since 2003. Can't believe I almost tried to switch to get back to using that machine.

Curbside was cancelled for us during the beta because assholes kept parking in the spaces and flat out ignoring the signs. Made for some fun times looking for cars in a full lot. Cops would also tell people to get lost if they tried to literally wait at the curb since my store is all of 100 feet to the freeway.

And our online sales do count towards the store sales, that was part of the deal in place when we beta tested SFS going on 3 years ago. It's not the norm?

Photo should be a double kiosk with two screens and he main priority of the kiosk should be shopping products. GoPro or some better brand suited for new users should be integrated at a partnership cost for high end areas at least. This is a largely missed opportunity. The kiosk for photos at my store should be delegated to a museum. Lol. Imagine an in-house editing kiosk for video. Finally a use for that useless headphone slot that no one uses when they come to print photos. Unlikely it work anyway. Charge for each editing session and only have one of the two for photos exclusively. Maybe I'm crazy.

I think something truck related would be helpful to SFS. Get the products in the right places and SFS is easier. Not sure what roles exactly but an SFS TL could contribute heavily on the floor while ensuring SFS runs smooth. Too much wasted time by SFS TMs who can’t find things or unlocated product. Have a TL who doesn’t pick, just fixes issues like you work on @SFSFun or @Moosechives
